Hesitating
(Chlorhexidine Gluconate Solution 4.0% w/v)
Recently my husband had to have an outpatient hand center. As with all surgery, prior surgery; Your doctor will give you a list of dos and don’ts before your operation.
Now for you, this was only my husband’s fifth male surgery in about twenty years. (Not that it was contested!)
However, with this hand, he came to a new order of things to do. This would be where Hibiclens comes into the picture.
The instructions given by the doctors are as follows: on the morning of the surgery, wash your whole body with this solution, and especially dilute it on your surgical site. Do not wash with your soap, and thus make yourself fat, and put on suitable loose clothing.
Our thoughts on this were: Please tell us, are you still planning on re-washing or sterilizing the surgical site again before proceeding! We didn’t see how this could stay sanitary until we got to the surgery center. Now we’re not saying that our house wasn’t clean or perfect, but he was a clean laundry person. it is handled by me. Who says I don’t have a bud and jump in the laundry? These are the things that went through our minds.
Maybe we seem paranoid, but MRSA is not something that hospitals just scoff at. It is true, and once you have been through it, you are much more cautious at the beginning of your life. Trust me when I say, it’s not something you want to experience, first hand.
Be that as it may, this was not the only concern about the Hibiclens product. My husband said it doesn’t lather, and it’s like “washing with kerosene. It’s greased, it doesn’t lather, and it just sits there and does nothing.” These are his words. And it was the next day that we noticed with his hand a thick and light straw from Hibiclens. So I tried to wash, dry, and clean. It never looked dry, never cleaned, needless to say, the shower curtain threw it away. So tid a bit here, be forewarned, damn the rain curtains!
Next to the bottle Hibiclens notes that it really is a stain. And it can also stain the body. It also claims that the product works for up to six hours kill residual germs activity. He also says that he lacks blood.
As in no other country, the price of drink is free. It is 1-800-843-8497.
The Hibiclens label also states that it is a skin cleansing cleanser, or a broad-spectrum antimicrobial. It also prevents skin infections , thereby reducing the risk of cross-infection. It also softens the skin.
Hibiclens says it is great for: hand washing, general skin wound cleansing and skin pre-surgical hand-washing.
We bought our bottle of Hibiclens from Walgreens for $10.48. It was located in the medical section of the store where you can find band aids and glasses. The bottle came in a box; The carbuncle is black and the color is aquamarine or mint green. There are eight fluid ounces in it. It has a smell, but it’s not too bad. This kind of smells like an antacid.
Hibiclen warns you not to use this product if you are allergic to chlorhexidine gluconate or any of the other ingredients listed in the product itself. They also advise against using it on the head, face, or genital area.
If you are smart, your doctor will write you a prescription for this product if he advises you to take it. Then it will be on your insurance if they don’t want to cover it.
The reason I decided to write a review on this product is because several people have never heard of it, including some of the pharmacy staff at Walgreens. And because people need to know that it is harmful to your surface – like your shower curtain!
I also noticed that the nursing staff had to poke my husband every so often to get him on the IV and he didn’t come down with any staph infection or MRSA, because maybe this product just might have something to do with it! After all, maybe he did this – to do his job as he predicted.
Therefore, in my honest opinion, if the Doctor suggests or advises you to get or even do Hibiclens, for any reason. I think it should be listened to. Obviously this is something they actually know something about!
