Review of Pyrex Round Storage Bowls and Lids

Description

These Pyrex bowls are quality, thick clear glass bowls that come in three sizes: 2 cup, 4 cup and 7 cup. They all have tight-fitting plastic lids, and the bowls overlap each other perfectly. I’m all for all the things that take up less space in my kitchen cupboards! If you’re into efficiency, these are for you.

The cups are safe to use in the oven, microwave, freezer, dishwasher, and dishwasher. However, the covers should be washed in the dishwasher. It usually sticks to the inside of the rack where the drinks go. They fit nicely in there and don’t get tangled up in the washer.

My thoughts

I bought this 14 piece at Costco a few years ago and have since bought individual bowls and lids off the market because I like them so much.

I don’t like store in plastic, and I especially don’t like microwaving food in plastic containers. I have read that some plastics (especially polyvinyl chloride, polycarbonate and plasticizers) leach chemicals into my food while I reheat the microwave. I do not doubt that one thing. There have been similar studies on plastic wrap. They are said to be endocrine disruptors because they release substances that mimic hormones in our bodies. Whether they are or not, I feel it’s better to use glass instead of plastic.

Because of this, I started to get rid of most of my Tupperware and Rubbermaid storage bowls. I still have a few things that I have to take in the car because I don’t have to worry about paying for them. And most of the food that I put in the fridge, whether it’s leftovers, my favorite mini-carrots, or heavy meals and sauces, are all stored in these Pyrex containers.

I remember well having precious bowls of Tupperware from spaghetti-sauce”>spaghetti sauce permanently stained – as they tell the story of the orange end pyrex bowls won’t stain, and won’t absorb any odors! .vn/tag/tomato-sauce”>tomato sauce or vinegar to be applied.

Over the past few years, Pyrex bowls have held up remarkably well. Only one of them has a small chip on the top edge, but it’s not really sharp. Pyrex is typically quite soft. I dropped these on my wood flooring and it didn’t break.

Another thing I use these dishes for is to chop nuts, eggs, other food with a hand held chopper. Because the bowls are not rounded at the bottom (they have straight sides), they split the meat easily. Even my husband uses his bowl for his 2 cup desserts. They can be used for many things besides food storage.

These bowls go straight from my lunch to my breakfast, making an easy meal out of last night’s leftovers. They also hold up well in the freezer, and foods from freezer burn better than those from freezer bags. I love the blue covers. No more messing with those plastic ties that don’t always stick very well. These lids fit tightly, and keep the air out of the bowl, and my food stays fresh for several days.

Retail price for 18 cups and 7 lids is $32.00, but I know I paid much less than that at Costco. Absolutely love this set.
