While many people now have digital cameras, there are a few who still don’t. This digital camera is so easy to use that I recommend it to anyone who thinks they are too old or too behind in today’s technological advancements to use a digital camera. Although this camera can be so easy to use, this camera boasts of many excellent features.
This camera is very cute and compact, but it is so much more than that. With 6 megapixels, you’re pretty sure to work with it later on cropping images and making decent sized files (how often do you really need prints larger than 16 x 20 inches or anything?). The 3x optical zoom is enough for most uses (although unfortunately, you don’t need to add any attachments to give yourself more zoom). The scene modes are quite useful, especially for those who have not used the camera settings. This camera also has a movie feature so you can fast forward a movie without having to lug around your bulky video camera (and yes, the movie feature also plays sound on the camera, how cool is that?). There are a lot of great features for this camera, but not so many that they overwhelm the features.
My favorite feature of the Canon PowerShot SD630 Digital Elph, was by far the 3 inch LCD screen. This screen is very easy to see what you are capable of. The screen takes up almost the entire back of the camera (which unfortunately leaves no room for the viewfinder, for those who still want that feature). The sizes of the fonts in the menus are very reasonable, although due to the large size of the screen (huge more for the older generation). And if the screen just isn’t big enough for you to see a small part of the photo you took, you can just use the camera zoom to zoom in on the photo you took and see the details (and make the photo Clear before you walk away from your subject and lose the opportunity to take another photo later try it). Also, let’s say you have different vertical images and horizontal images. This camera knows when a photo was taken vertically and automatically displays the photo in its orientation. A lot of cameras do that now though, so this camera goes further. Do you want to make full use of that screen for vertical images as well? Maybe not! Just turn the camera vertically and you can see the photos in full size. I just love it! Canon has made sure that this 3 inch screen is as useful as possible for you.
That’s one thing I’ve always loved about Canon cameras, there are all kinds of scenes. Scene modes take the guesswork out of shooting different settings. Instead of actually knowing something about photography and switching the camera to manual mode, you can just use the scene. Taking a picture? Use portrait mode! Do you want to take a photo at night? There’s a stage mode for that too! Photos of kids and pets? Just use . While this camera doesn’t boast as many scene modes as Canon video cameras do, it certainly has enough for the average user. In addition to the scene mode, you can also set the camera in automatic or manual mode. Manual allows you to change things like exposure, white balance (sunny, cloudy, fluorescent, tungsten, etc.), colors (traditional sepia and black and white, and also adjusts things like You can move in TV quality (640×480, which if you don’t have an LCD TV yet, looks very nice) or smaller as well for short movies posting online. You can still change the white balance and colors for videos too. Viewing the photos and videos you’ve taken is easy. Just flip through the images to see what you want. You can delete photos right in the camera (which is definitely something you could never do with an old film camera!). You don’t need to read the manual for this camera, it’s so simple to use. The features tend to be pretty self-explanatory as you go through the menus.
Because every camera has its limits. There were a few things I didn’t like about this camera or that I thought others probably wouldn’t like. This camera doesn’t have a viewfinder, which I don’t mind because I’ve always hated using a viewfinder. But some people really like their watch and only have one for the screen. If so, there are still many digital cameras, there are those who have viewers too. My biggest problem with it was that I was so used to shooting Nikon cameras that I found the macro on this camera inferior. For most people, the microphone on this camera is probably going to be fine. If you bought this camera just to take pictures of flowers, insects and small pictures, I’d recommend something else. Another criticism I have is that you are not given the opportunity to attach feelings. I also like the point and shoot cameras sometimes so I can add attachments like filters. I think the color features on this camera make up for the lack of ability to enhance filters. However, if you really want to add emotion to your camera, I recommend going with someone else. There are several cameras out there that have wires for adding attachments. Overall, I found this camera to be a very good camera for the average user.
If you are still afraid of digital cameras and you don’t have one yet, consider this one. This camera is incredibly easy to learn and use. Even if you have been using your digital camera for a while now and you may want to upgrade soon; This camera is nice and may serve you well. This camera fits easily into a purse or pocket so you can take it with you throughout your vacations, family gatherings, and other events. There are enough features in this camera to be really useful, but not so many features that you get overwhelmed. I highly recommend checking out this camera if you are considering buying a digital point and shoot.
