Very rarely do you buy into gimmicky products that seem very basic. But when it comes to health and beauty all around, I have a bit of a soft spot. Anyway, after reading some sales circles in the newspaper, I ran across this little beauty: the Conair Facial Sauna. I must admit that this name rang out at first. But as soon as I realized what this machine could do, it became more and more appealing to me. I quickly uploaded this Secret Santa to my workload. And don’t you want to know, Santa brought me what I asked for.
WHAT IS A “FACIAL SAUNA”?
The Conair Facial Sauna System is essentially a compact “steamer”. The bottom of the device has a small area that needs to be filled with water. This product mainly comes with two cones: a wide one for the neck, another for facial smoke and a narrower one for opening the nasal and sinus passages. The unit, which costs under $30, also comes with a battery operated hand-held facial scrubber. The retaining part has two sliding heads. One is the exfoliation of the brush. Another sponge is for applying moisturizer.
The main purpose of the Sauna system is to help unclog the pores, which ultimately prevents acne breakouts and other skin diseases. The premise is quite simple: use Conair steam Sauna to open pores, remove dirt and oil; then close the pores again with a suffocation of cold water. These same principles are used in health and beauty spas. But Conair decided to simplify the concept into one small unit.
How easy is it to use?
One reason why I tend to avoid gimmicky devices is because they are rarely as easy to use as they appear on television. At first I believed that the Conair Facial Sauna was no different. With the attachments, cones, and instructions, I figured I would have some trouble using the equipment properly.
When the machine was detected, I saw that there were no more powers. There is an on/off switch and a timer. I certainly like the simplicity of the technique. The instructions suggested that I fill the metal cell (in the base) with water – and then turn the engine on. And that’s just as easy. The Conair Spa also gives you the option of setting the timer, although you can do without the machine. In addition, they proved that the locking mechanism was safe. When I left my iron in use, I hated this a little piece of weapons to serve as a catalyst in a house fire disaster.
After getting instructions on how to get the job done, I added water and waited the obligatory three minutes for the Conair to heat up and do its thing. The rest was easy. I placed my face over the wide end of the facial cone and the mechanism did its job.
Does it REALLY WORK?
I applied the same skepticism that applies to 95% of all the new contraptions I see advertised on television to the Conair Facial Spa. I wondered how a $25 device could do more for me than a “free” steamy shower at home. It is true that Conair’s angled cones allow a more direct application of steam to the entire face. Moreover, the heat does not prevail. And I found that the more I sat there looking at the flying machine, the better it felt.
It has also been said that to increase the effect of the sauna, the towel can be pulled over the head, allowing it to absorb more steam. I have also experienced it, it does just as well, if not better. You will have to clean your face before you start. There’s nothing worse than the look of a sweaty face that dripped melted foundation onto your new Conair Facial Sauna. After the initial scrub, take in all the wonderful vapors freely.
Affectionately, I admit, I found it a little awkward to use. The rotating brush is a nice concept. And it works rather well. But I’m a little afraid of how the brush bristles will look after a few scrubbings with my favorite exfoliating cream. I didn’t use the sponge applicator because I didn’t figure out how to use it.
After a 5-minute steam, I can say that the results are exactly what is implied in the packaging. My skin felt really rejuvenated. The concentration of steam on the face seems to work much more than standing in a hot shower. I enjoy the idea of knowing that I can have a nice exhilarating facial without spending money at the salon. Additionally, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the invention was to use. Fill everything with water and turn it over. Because the machine does not use any other chemicals, it remains quite clean, which allows for easy maintenance. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who uses it regularly, is prone to breakouts, or who has occasional sinus trouble. The wonderful power of steam.
