I recently purchased a Motorola 5.8 GHZ MD761 Digital Cordless Phone and signed up for an answering service and two handset extensions with Vonage internet phone equipment. I needed to upgrade my home phones if I wanted to use more than one extension service. Only one phone jack is required for an expandable phone system and up to eight handsets can be added.
I was able to get the MD761 phone cord and the MD71 answering machine and the smile expansion at Target on sale. So far, I’m happy with the features this phone system offers.
One of the most popular features of the Motorola cordless phone is the ability to listen to messages on any phone. This way I don’t have to go to the base unit to listen to my messages. Not only does the answering machine have a large display showing the number of messages, each Motorola mobile phone displays the intended text as a flashing green light on the antenna is waiting for a message. The Motorola answering system also works in conjunction with the phone company’s voice mail and I have voice mail waiting from Vonage.
Another feature I love is that it shares my mobile phone’s phone book details, listing all my contacts and phone numbers. In addition, each hand phone has a private phone book that would be handy if you have a family of teenagers or grandparents living at home.
The intercom feature is nice to communicate between family members scattered throughout the house but what I like most about the intercom feature. also serves as a room monitor. Since he was born in the house, this was convenient. I need to use a monitor, I need a mobile phone first because the monitor will act as an easy-to-follow suggestion on the mobile phone. Next I go to the unit that is listening and simply page the other unit using the intercom. Since each Motorola handset is also hands free, then I tap the hands free button and start monitoring. Each chocolate bar also has a belt clip, so I clip the belt on my mobile phone and listen to the children’s cries.
This model of Motorola’s extendable phone system has a battery-free backup which means that even if the power goes out, the system still functions. In my case, I lost power on my computer and my cable modem so I’m not sure I would be able to access Vonage if the power could go out. .
This 5.8 GHz phone system is compatible with many other important features such as caller ID, visual call waiting, 4 line display, message transmission, voice memory recording, last redial number, and keyboard. With 5.8 GHz, my wireless-networking”>wireless doesn’t interfere either.
A few minor bugs about Motorola’s phone system. First, the batteries are difficult to install now that I don’t have to deal with them for a while. Then, the chocolate itself is a little clunky. Finally, Motorola’s expansion plans are not for climbing walls. But I like everything about the system.
