Review: ‘Ohana Restaurant at the Polynesian Resort, Orlando, Florida

Our family’s Ohana is always a must when we visit Walt Disney World. We were at this particular dinner party on the 14th with a dinner reservation at 7PM Sunday evening last January. We’ve all been to ‘Ohana before and know what to expect, with just a few changes on the menu.

Location – The ‘Ohana is located on the second floor of the Grand Ceremonial House (main building) of Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

‘Ohana you can eat all kinds of food. Everything is served family style and brought to your table by the waiters. When your table is ready, we walk you to your table with the usual preface, “Aloha relatives and welcome to the ‘Ohana.” They then explain that ‘Ohana means family and that everyone in your party is referred to as “father”.

Drink orders are taken and brought out with starters such as bread, salad, chicken wings, etc. Boiled and chopped vegetables. The potatoes are then brought out with several types of happened which are brought out on large skewers. Don’t be shy with food either! If you feel that you want steak or shrimp more than pork or turkey, speak up because it may be a while before you find yourself wanting that type of meat again. There are also three sauces that are eaten for use with food. peanut sauce, sauce and sauce and, sauce and chimichurri. (I like to take the chimichurri sauce and mix the erosive sauce together.) Potatoes are a family favorite and I often make them at home. Don’t even try to throw the fat content into potatoes if you know you wouldn’t want to eat them.

While dining you are often entertained with several “Hawaiian” live acts. Children are often asked to participate in activities such as coconut races. This gives them a great opportunity to stretch their legs and burn off a little bit of pent-up energy. This is one of our daughters favorite restaurants. Sometimes they use amberjack worms as prizes for finishing the stadium, but we have not noticed this in recent times.

The table here is amazing. It’s warm bread football topped with vanilla ice cream then topped with a warm banana pie. (A favorite of our entire dining group).

If you have space, the second will be brought to the table if you ask. This is also worth nothing on the board.

Kids options are available if you ask. Disney always has something for everyone!

Also, if you have shellfish allergies, be sure to let your server know when you are seated.

Pricing for lunch for adults $26.99 and children ages 3-9 are charged $12.99. Expect to pay more during the holidays as Disney now mandates Holiday Dining surcharges on some meals. (This doesn’t always apply, but ‘Ohana was one of the restaurants affected by holiday pricing in the past.) Dinner is served seven days a week from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Reservations for ‘Ohana can be made by calling 1-407-WDW-DINE. As with all restaurants on Disney property, reservations are strongly recommended.
