Myrtle Beach has long been regarded as one of the best East Coast vacation towns in America. There is never a shortage of activity here, regardless of what you’re in the mood for. If you want to disappear for the weekend with that special someone, Myrtle Beach has plenty to offer for that experience.
First off, a few travel tips if you want to avoid crowds and be in places that are a little more on the quiet side of Myrtle Beach. The best way to avoid crowds yet still enjoy warmer weather is to go a couple of weekends before Memorial Day or a couple of weekends after Labor Day. There is still plenty of heat to go around. If you go before Memorial Day, the waters of Myrtle Beach will still be chilly but you won’t have to bundle up just to take a stroll down the boardwalks. After Labor Day, the water is still plenty warm to swim and surf in.
The other advantage of visiting during those times is avoiding the crowds. Every other weekend in Myrtle Beach is a special weekend. There are two different Bike Weekends. There are Shagger’s conventions. And don’t even start with the Spring Breaks. But you avoid the crowds by going on the weekends I mentioned at the beginning.
With that being said, One of the more romantic hotels to stay in Myrtle Beach is the Caribbean Resort and Villas. Located on Oceanfront Boulevard, the Caribbean offers plenty of access to the ocean and sites of Myrtle Beach, yet also has rooms to offer privacy to couples who want to keep their intimate weekends intimate. The hotel also has a hot tub, indoor/outdoor pools, and a lazy river inside a solarium so that it stays warm during the winter.
Although I don’t normally recommend the restaurants inside hotels,(you can always find somewhere to eat in Myrtle Beach), the Sea Captain’s House has one of the best seafood dining experiences you’ll ever have. Most restaurants in town offer the same Calabash flavoring to their seafood, but the Sea Captain’s House boasts having it’s own saucier that is plenty experienced in building the tastiest sauces and flavors to whatever you choose to eat. Also, the view is spectacular an ddining is fairly quiet…perfect for a romantic meal!
The Caribbean has a special policy that no guests are permitted under 25 unless accompanied by a parent. In other words, it’s not a hotel for partying young folks; it’s built for quiet, special times. There is construction going on at the hotel, but just try to get rooms away from the construction area (rooms ending from 27 to 33, as in 127, 233, etc.)
For entertainment, Myrtle Beach offers endless possibilities. Broadway at the Beach offers something for everyone. Celebrity Square has the best nighttime activities because of the different dance clubs. Broadway Louie’s has a sports bar, arcade, karaoke and a restaurant all under one roof! Froggy Bottomz offers live entertainment and a dance floor. Right next to celebrity square is the famous Planet Hollywood, complete with movie memorabilia under a pyramid-shaped building.
If you want a quieter getaway, Myrtle Beach has various flower gardens and parks that you can walk on. Myrtle Beach State Park offers several trails and natural wildlife that’s well away from the hustle and bustle of the tourism industry. Enjoy a leisurely stroll around the maritime forest or in the sea breeze because Myrtle Beach State Park is along an oceanfront.
Overall, Myrtle Beach has a lot of activities that can’t possibly be covered in one article. Just follow the links to explore more for yourself, but I highly recommend taking advantage of the Caribbean and the park if you truly want a romantic weekend.
