The automobile industry in the United States expanded rapidly due to rising costs and urban sprawl, and in the Milwaukee area more than its share of such businesses arrived in ten years. For such a ready and clean self-storage facility, the prices are also reasonable. A 5×5 unit, for example, returns under $40 per month, and there are no hidden administrative fees or security deposits . They also offer a wide range of debit from checking accounts for easy bill payment of their self-storage unit. In addition to the Prospect Avenue location, Eastern Bank Storage maintains a location in Martin Luther King, just north of the city and also in the neighborhood near the East.
So what’s the downside, you say? First, you need to use the elevator, because this is a multi-story building. Secondly, the access hours are not very convenient. In addition to its usual 24-7 self-storage facilities, Oriental Bank keeps basic business hours a week and offers limited Saturday and Sunday hours As long as you don’t mind access restrictions, these are probably the best self-storage units near the Midwest and East Coast.
2. Green Bay Avenue Self Storage

Located near I-43 just minutes north of downtown Milwaukee and east, Green Bay Avenue Self Storage has opened a brand new facility. Ututing a family-owned atmosphere, this business takes security very seriously – with alarms at every door, an extensive camera system, and a computerized gate. They’ll even give you a free cylinder lock so you don’t have to bring one. GBA Self Storage offers units as small as 5×5 (a common industry standard) and units as large as 10×40. All in all, this competes nicely with East Bank Storage. Not as “nice” – but it’s safe, clean, and ready to access 24 hours (even when their offices are closed). This self-storage facility is best suited for those on the northeast fringes, just north of Capitol Drive. Finally, be sure to visit their website for a special coupon, as you can earn a discount.
3. Public Storage

Public Records is a large national chain with several locations in the Milwaukee area. They have many advantages: easy paying bills online, cheap prices, special discounts, discounts for longer stays and a wide range of units. the storage is largely self-organized. A one-time $20 “administrative fee” (which may reduce some of your other savings), but no security deposit. . They make the process as simple as possible and allow 24-7 access. Unfortunately, most of the public facilities in the city proper are quite far from the east and the city. Perhaps the most convenient location is the one on 84th street, right off I-94 and adjacent to the National Ice Center. For a lower price and name recognition, you’ll have to travel a little further from the lakefront, but Public Storage has a few locations in downtown Milwaukee itself, taking the unwelcome crowding out of wallets.
4. EZ Self Storage

In the middle of downtown, between Menomonee Valley and Third Avenue, you’ll find one of EZ Self Storage’s “mini-warehouses.” They make small units (5×5), but most of them offer larger storage space – up to 20×20. EZ Storage also has outdoor boat storage near the water on Lake Michigan. While this location is excellent, just minutes from downtown, even sans highway, there are some drawbacks. Pricing is much higher than other self-storage facilities, and there are additional fees and security deposits involved. For personal storage (unless you have a boat!), you’ll want to stick with one of the three options listed above.
