Seven Great Gifts for Dog Owners

There is a whole market out there for merchandise geared towards dogs and dog owners. Dogs seem to have it all from their own cakes, to their own shoes and accessories, and now their own birthday parties. With so many great items to choose from it can be difficult to find a great gift for dogs and their owners. If you want to buy that perfect gift for a dog and its owner but are not sure what to buy, take a look below at some gift ideas.

1. CVS sells an item that both dog owner and dog can enjoy. The item is a ceramic mug with dog treats wrapped up inside. Both owner and dog can enjoy this gift because the owner can enjoy a nice cup of coffee while the dog nibbles on his treats. This item retails at about $8 at CVS. If you cannot find this item in stores you can try putting together a gift like this yourself. You can do this by purchasing a ceramic mug and some dog treats. Wrap the dog treats up in saran wrap and place them inside the mug.

2. A dog carrier always comes in handy. Pet carriers allow you to safely transport your pet from place to place. Carriers are especially helpful in the event that the owner needs to take a flight somewhere or if the pet becomes sick and needs to be taken to the hospital. There are many different pet carriers available; the ones that you strap and wear over your arm and the ones with a handle and door. There are also dog strollers and crates available. Dog crates and strollers are most expensive costing up to $300. Spend some time thinking about affordability and decide which carrier will be appropriate to purchase.

3. Retractable leashes are a nice buy as well. The dog owner most likely owns a leash or two but not the retractable kind. Retractable dog leashes are great in that they allow the owner to pull back the dog from going any further. These leashes allow the owner to have more control over their dog when walking them.

4. A gift certificate to the groomer is an excellent gift for dog owner and pet. It is essential that animals get groomed on a consistent basis. Pet grooming can be costly over time and the larger the animal or the more complicated the texture of the fur is then the more costly the groomer visit will be. If you purchase a gift certificate for a decent amount, the owners may be able to choose from a nail clipping, a bath or maybe ear cleaning and the list goes on. Owners and dogs alike will be especially grateful for this gift.

5. Dog poop bags are a great gift choice. Many people fail to purchase dog poop bags which cause for messy situations when they are out walking their dogs. In addition to buying the poop bags you can purchase a box of medical gloves to make the disposing of the poop easier.

6. Furniture stain and odor removal sprays are great gifts for pets and their owners. These sprays are relatively inexpensive and keep the furniture and home smelling and looking good. These sprays can be purchased at pet stores and even grocery stores and outlets like Walmart.

7. A gift certificate to a local pet store will make a great gift. Dogs are always in need of last minute items and a gift certificate to a pet store will be greatly appreciated by the owner. If you do not have much money, purchase a gift certificate for $15 or $25 or if you can afford it aim for a certificate in the $60 range.
