Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Tampons, Regular Versus Natracare Organic All-Cotton Tampons, Regular Absorbency

Organic tampons are only one of the many organic products I have begun to try over the past couple of years. I started using organic products, like Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Tampons, Regular and Natracare Organic All-Cotton Tampons, Regular Absorbency, in an attempt to eliminate any unnecessary exposure to chemicals in my body and in my environment. I have to admit I did not come up with the idea; I was exposed to many different theories on why and how we should eliminate any unnecessary chemical in our modern life style. I have to also say that it never occurred to me that normal every day products like tampons and other products even contained chemicals. Chlorine is used regularly in the production of regular non-organic tampons. Cotton used in organic tampons is also grown in a pesticide free environment, which is beneficial to the earth as well as the insect and animal population. One of the first organic tampon products I tried was Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Tampons, Regular. Later I tried Natracare Organic All-Cotton Tampons, Regular Absorbency after a recommendation from a friend.

Absorbency

I have to admit I was a little leery about trying a new tampon, organic or not. I had been using the same product my entire life, probably like most women out there. I am a firm believer in not fixing what is not broken. I have to say though that I was completely surprised to find that both the Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Tampons, Regular and Natracare Organic All-Cotton Tampons, Regular Absorbency worked as well as my regular Tampon tampons. I found no notable difference in absorbency in either of these products compared to my normal product. Both of these organic tampon products come in the some of the same variety of absorbency that traditional tampons come in. I have found both the Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Tampons and the Natracare Organic All-Cotton Tampons in regular, super, and super plus absorbencies. I have not found them in light or light regular.

Application

Ok, I do have to admit that the Natracare Organic All-Cotton Tampons, Regular Absorbency applicators were slightly difficult to work. Do not expect to find plastic smooth glide type applicators with either of these products. I have to say I would not recommend them for a teenager or anyone new to tampons. I did not buy another box of the Natracare Organic All-Cotton Tampons, Regular Absorbency because of this issue. Honestly though, the applicator problem was not enough of a problem to make me throw away the rest of the box.

Cost

Organic tampons are wonderful and chemical free, but if you can’t afford them, then they are just not going to be feasible for your lifestyle. A box of Natracare Organic All-Cotton Tampons, Regular Absorbency has 16 tampons and will cost you about $7.00. This is definitley a little more expensive than your average box of tampons, but it may be well worth it if you are trying to adopt a new organic and chemical free lifestyle. A box of 20 Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Tampons will cost about $4.99. This is very comparable to other more common tampons products on the market like Tampax and Playtex.

Toxic Shock Syndrome

It is important to understand that neither Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Tampons, Regular or Natracare Organic All-Cotton Tampons, Regular Absorbency eliminate the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome. This rare disease is associated with all tampons, organic or not. Toxic shock syndrome has nothing to do with a tampon being organic. You should read the instructions on the box of any new tampon product you choose to try and always follow their instructions about usage.

Overall I do have to say that the Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Tampons, Regular are a better organic tampon product versus the Natracare Organic All-Cotton Tampons, Regular Absorbency. They are more affordable, relatively easy to find, and have a better applicator.
