Pros and cons of Sheetz’s “Pump First” card
When gas prices rose to record highs last year, Sheetz started a program called “Pump First” to try to stop the number of people driving without paying.
But in a world full of plastic bags, is this one worth signing up for?
Basically, the program allows customers to use their Pump First card to fuel up before entering the store to pay, a practice once common but no longer held among many filling station owners who are increasingly afraid to drive.
When I signed into the program, the Sheetz cashier scanned the barcode on the back of my license and then scanned the first Pump card that is now associated with my device license info. If they drive without the price of my gas, they will have a good one who did it. But if I’m honest, I save the hassle of solving before burning fuel, which is not possible now. unless I pay at the pump with a credit or debit card.
Now, Pump First isn’t a credit card – and it doesn’t have a cash value – but the beauty of the Pump First card takes the upfront guesswork out of how much money it costs to top the tank off.
However, I feel that there are some downsides to the program;
