Signs and Symptoms of an Abused or Neglected Child

3. Does the child seem nervous or guarded? Does the child suddenly jump at the bangs?

4. Does the child seem unconcerned or suddenly withdrawn?

5. Does the child go to school or other activities in the morning and then does not seem to want to go home after the activity?

You can also sometimes see signs from your parents that something is wrong.

1. How does a parent talk about a child? Does it seem that the parent blames the child for everything?

2. Does the parent care about any of the child’s problems in schools or in medical conditions?

3. Can I have a parent who does not take care of the child?

4. Does the parent care if the child is in school?

5. Does the parent seem to be taking care of the child?

Finally, if you see a parent and a child together, what do you see? Do you see a loving relationship? Do they hug or touch each other? Have you ever heard one or both say they hate the other?

physical-abuse is sometimes easier to spot than emotional abuse. Some signs of physical abuse are:

1. Unknown accidents, broken bones, bruises, burn marks.

2. Does the child wear long in warm weather?

3. It seems scary when it’s time to go home.

Of course the above listing are just examples. It is a great thing to blame and neglect. This can be shown in many ways. But the first step of abuse and neglect is blocked because it has to be seen and reported from the outside.
