Soap & Glory Glow Hydrating Shimmer Lotion

It was the retro look of the cardboard packaging that Soap & Glory Glow Hydrating Shimmer Lotion came in that caught my eye. A beautiful woman in black and white on the pink and pale yellow colored package, her 40’s/50’s style hair, the innocence on her face that sold me to begin with.
I will say, whoever marketed this packages is a genius, because there is no package in the lotion world quite as fabulous, old fashioned, and beautiful as Soap & Glory Glow Hydrating Shimmer Lotion. For a look at packaging, click here.

I wondered what the lotion would smell like, I wondered if it would even be any good. I squirt a little bit of the tester bottle on to my hand, and rubbed it into my skin. Unfortunately the tester bottle was only the plain lotion, and not Soap & Glory Glow Hydrating Shimmer Lotion. Seeing how they were both made with the same scent in mind, (Soap & Glory) I figured the lotion would smell exactly like the Shimmer Lotion.

At first I didn’t think much of the scent. It had a very strong hint of something powdery, yet musky at the same time. I walked away, and left it there after I found out the bottle was selling for $9.99. I wasn’t in the mood to spend that much money on lotion at that time.

About 5 hours later though, I smelled something completely fabulous though coming off of my hands. It hit me, I recalled applying the lotion earlier in the day, and still this many hours later I was clearly smelling the scent! It toned down into something so gorgeous, and honestly I can’t even quite place the scent. Retro though is the word that comes to mind when thinking of the scent of Soap & Glory.

The next day I headed back to Target to find the lotion. They however did not have the original lotion, so I settled on the Soap & Glory Glow Hydrating Shimmer Lotion, even though the bottle is much smaller than the pump lotion without the shimmer.

The bottle itself lets the lotion out of the same type of pump nozzle you would find with body sprays. I wasn’t sure how well it would work, because cheap-o pump bottles like that usually end up breaking, or falling off.

The bottle is just as cute and retro looking as the packaging. It is clear, with a label on it stating what the lotion is. Inside you can see the pearly purplish/pink colored lotion. You can tell the lotion is a bit runny, but most shimmer lotions are a little more runny than regular lotions are.

My Use:

I squeezed a few drops of Soap & Glory Glow Hydrating Shimmer Lotion out onto my legs and rubbed it in. It absorbs fast, and leaves behind a very subtle and delicate shimmer. The shimmer is pretty and looks natural, giving your legs a kiss of summer glow, without making them shine too much.

The scent sticks to you like glue, and wraps your senses around it. The lotion also absorbs pretty quickly. As far as moisturization goes though, there was nothing special that I cold detect at all.

For me, Soap & Glory Glow Hydrating Shimmer Lotion is strictly for summer shimmery skin, and a lovely scent. As far as moisturizing goes, if that is what you are looking for, this is not the lotion for you.

Last:

Now the day before the original non-shimmer lotion had a scent that lasted for hours, and hours. I was hoping Soap & Glory Glow Hydrating Shimmer Lotion would pack the same powerful long lasting kick.

Unfortunately this is not the case with Soap & Glory Glow Hydrating Shimmer Lotion, and it was a real let down. I imagined this would last just as long, it does not.

The scent does however last for about an hour, which is decent compared to other lotions. Decent yes, but NOTHING like the larger pump bottle non-shimmer lotion.

Overall:

A gorgeous scent she packs indeed, but as far as lasting long, it does not. The shimmer however sticks around for the majority of the day, so long as you do not get wet.

All in all, I feel that Soap & Glory Glow Hydrating Shimmer Lotion is a decent shimmer lotion. It does have a nice scent, unfortunately it only lasts for about an hour. The shimmer though will stick around all day, so it is definitely worth a buy if you want to have a summer sun kissed glow on your skin.

Where To Buy:

You can buy it online at Target.com, or at your local Target store. The price comes to $9.99 for a 5 ounce bottle.
