Sober College

Every time I open my AC content page, I see this message from Sober College. A nice big sign appears at the top of the page and after months of taunting me I finally get down on the map. I think I was in denial for a while, and that’s what put me off exploring this sooner. I guess I just don’t believe anyone would really create a college for addicts and alcoholics. I was wrong.

Here it is, College Sober. An organization built for young alcoholics and addicts who need to get an education and work hard to transition to college, but at the same time need to be in rehab. What a concept! But before I begin debunking this opinion, I would like to point out one very important point. Nowhere on the Sober College site is there any listing of successes or statistics for sober people leaving this school of higher learning. In fact, there isn’t a single statistic out there that anyone can use to make an informed decision about dealing with this program.

Of course, my first big problem with Sober College is the fact that, like most accepted theories, it makes no sense. The main idea of this is that alcoholics and addicts and long-term sober living and treatment can leave with them now they do life In fact, he stated this quite clearly on the page for the number of three core ideas;

“LONG TERM – The longer a young person can be in the treatment environment, the better the chances he added.

Is it me or does this just seem like a bad idea? How can they catch and have someone, live in a free sober environment, surrounded by other problems, and they do this for months and months; Can they benefit? The recovery community has created this insane method of dealing with alcoholics and addicts by placing them in rehabs for extended periods of time. and then waiting for them to come out as usual. Sober College has assumed this absurdity: drug addicts and alcoholics cannot stay sober in college, as they now need their own college. How is this integration of young people drug and alcohol back problems into common life? It’s clear to me that if your sobriety depends on isolating yourself in a community of other people, you’re not normal with the same problems. Besides, if your whole life is spent not drinking or using drugs (which I don’t know how else it can be, it’s called Sober College school) you are abnormal. No other form of treatment for weakness works on this idea. In fact, the whole idea with treatment is to get people out of the hospital and into real world functioning citizens. But not the bow and arrow! You see that theyspecial-needs-children”>special and need are tied to the resources in the funny moments of time to become How normal?

And what is the manner of conduct in the Sober College? Well, you have lifestyle therapies along with psychiatry, counseling, and a whole host of other professional treatments, which are probably the most helpful things in college. But what about the middle treatment of the Sober College, that is, to guess correctly, twelve degrees of therapy.

We subscribe to the 12-step theory of alcohol drug addiction treatment, but we do not limit our methodology to this at all. effective formula

And this absolutely improved edition, there are other methods of care in the Sober College. There is a horse, a trapeze, a wind tunnel, and a surf fair. The festival sounds more like a college or treatment program. Here is a description of equine therapy.

” Cattle and prey animals, horses are created to be incredibly attuned to the emotions around them, and when a horse and a horse come together to help heal, it becomes a powerfully revealing form of medicine. You can lie. The therapist, but the horse – the horse only gets the truth!” (Sober College, 2010)

WOW!! Who would have thought that my horse could be fixed? I couldn’t do this garbage! Here’s more from the Equine website,

“For many in addiction recovery, the intellectualization of our problems prevents growth and long-term recovery. We think that we believe that others are the cause of our problems, and it can be very difficult for a therapist to convince us otherwise, in a conventional therapeutic environment.

But in the warehouse, far away from the office and bed, we show the characters and questions in our “talkstherapy. in a physical and emotional way. We show others what is hindering our growth, and often the process is very personally revealing.

With the help of a horse, they break through the walls of denial. Horses just don’t fall.” (Sober College, 2010)

What a load of horse crap! (Pun excuse.) Research on equine therapy has been limited for a while, and much of the research that has been done has been ineffective or poorly designed. Hey, but there’s still surf therapy and favorite tunnels that I don’t even bother researching.

Therefore, to proceed with this treatment:

1. Twelve-step therapy that has a success rate of 5% or less. (Which is the same as not receiving a check)

2. Professional advice and psychiatric service

3. Wind tunnel, equine therapy, surface therapy, and trapeze (therapies for the best)

Finally, what is a sober college course? Well, you can earn your GED before high school and while attending sober college you can earn a general studies certificate from Woodbury University. Now mind you, this degree is not a certificate that gives you 15 college credits. But what are the courses that make up this General Studies certificate?

So now that you’re removed from society, living with a bunch of addicts and alcoholics, surf to therapy, and bond with your counselor horse; You can expand your character with addictions approaches and through the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. This is the surest method to become a normal productive member of society. The best part about Sober College is that it only costs $6,000 a month, but when you add in room and board, tuition, and other expenses, the total cost comes to about $8,000 a month. However, it is recommended that you stay for 90 days or more.
