Sprite Green Review

My favorite sodas to drink growing up were always apple flavored, like orange, strawberry, and stone fruit, but two years ago I started to love drinking lemon and lime flavored drinks. And one of my favorite things to drink was Sprite because of how refreshing it is.

I became addicted to the slightly acidic acid that stayed in the back of my throat, so I started drinking it at least three times a week. After two months, however, I decided to stop drinking pop altogether because all the high fructose corn syrup and other artificial ingredients were starting to make me feel like crap.

So when I saw a billboard advertising Sprite’s new green soda I got excited because I thought this was a healthier alternative to the regular Sprite that I love. It took me a few weeks to find it in a store, but I recently saw it on sale in 7/11, so I decided to try it.

taste

Sprite Green

When drinking Sprite Green I noticed it didn’t taste like an exact substitute for regular Sprite. Green drink was sweet like normal sodas, but because of the stevia extract it had a slightly bitter aftertaste. I’ve used stevia before so it doesn’t bother me, but it’s noticeable. Also, regular Spirit has a thicker syrupy texture because of the corn syrup, while Green Spirit does not. Of course, this thick texture does not benefit you, but it just makes it more comfortable.

It doesn’t even sound like a Sprite. It starts sweet and sweet, but then the taste of lemon juice arrives. It’s not refreshing because it’s a little strong, and there’s a noticeable salty taste that I don’t really enjoy. The end result tasted Sprite-like, but not as tasty. It actually reminded me of the medicine magnesium citrate because of the salty, lemon flavor.

In the end

If I were to compare Green Spirit to regular Spirit, I would say that regular Spirit tastes better because I used all the artificial sweeteners and other chemicals. But Sprite Green isn’t inherently bad. I don’t really like the saltiness, and stevia flavors, I also taste some sweets, but I still enjoyed it. It’s not something I’d want to crack every day but if I was in the mood for a healthier lemon lime drink, I’d definitely drink it again. I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
