March is fast approaching and with it comes St. Patrick’s Day 2012. There are many events in Colorado Springs to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day and have fun!
Starting on Saturday, March 13th, Ruth Holley Branch Library is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with An Irish Celebration, with a performance by St. Brendan’s Irish School of Dance, and an afternoon of crafts and refreshments. The fun starts at 1:30 PM, 923 North Murray Blvd.
On March 15 and 16, there will be a St. Patty’s (sic) Day Sports Expo at the Antler Hilton Hotel in downtown Colorado Springs. Exhibitors will focus on running and biking, and professional services include sports medicine, massage, and therapy. The Expo is free and open to the public, from 11 AM to 7 PM both day. No St. Patrick’s Day would be complete without a Beer and Soda Garden hosted by Antlers Hotel.
After you have your information on running at the Sports Expo, on March 17 there is the St. Patrick’s Day 5K run. The run starts at 10 AM at Acacia Park on Tejon & Bijou in downtown Colorado Springs. Entry fee is $26 pre-race, $30 on race day. For the wee lads and lassies (10 years and under), there is the Leprechaun Fun Run starting at 11 AM. Call 719-635-8803 for more information. To top off the day, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at noon on St. Vrain and Tejon and continue south on Tejon to Vermijo. While there, enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants along the parade route, including Phantom Canyon, Jack Quinn’s Irish Pub, and McCabe’s Tavern.
If you want some traditional Irish music and entertainment, Jack Quinn’s Irish Pub will be open at 8 AM with live music, pipers, dancers, and more!
There is something for everyone to celebrate St Patrick’s Day in Colorado Springs! Remember, if you’re going to drink, please DON’T drive! Keep it safe and have fun!
