Starbuck’s Iced Mocha Vs. Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha Latte

The Starbuck’s Iced Mocha and the Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha Latte are two of the most popular iced coffees I have seen people ordering this summer. Seriously, America is on an iced coffee craze this year!

I live one block from a Starbucks and 1.5 blocks form a Dunkin Donuts. So, needless to say, I have consumed more than my fair share of the Starbucks Iced Mocha and the Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha (Swirl) Latte.

I decided to compare the Starbuck’s Iced Mocha Vs. Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha Latte for a little fun. Serious, but fun of course! So, here is a Starbuck’s Iced Mocha review Vs. Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha Latte review.

I tried to find the closest sizes and both are made with skim milk.

Price

We all know the sizing at Starbucks and their iced Mocha comes in the same, Tall, Grande, and Venti sizing. At my local Starbucks a Venti Iced Mocha costs $4.50 plus a few pennies. It is 24 ounces. That breaks down to $ 0.1875 per ounce.

My local Dunkin Donuts sells their Medium Iced mocha Latte for $3.60, give or take a few cents. The medium iced mocha latte at Dunkin Donuts is 20 Ounces. That breaks down to $ 0.18 per ounce.

So, the winner of the price battle in Starbuck’s Iced Mocha Vs. Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha Latte is of course a tie. The Dunkin Donuts iced coffee seems, cheaper, but it is merely smaller. The large at Dunkin Donuts is a huge bargain though and extremely large.

Calories

The Starbuck’s Iced Mocha in the Venti Size has 250 calories and 3.5 grams of fat.

The Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha Latte in Medium has about 220 calories and about 1.5 grams of fat. Unfortunately Dunkin Donuts only lists their smaller 16 ounce size nutritional information on their website for this drink.

You can decided this caloric battle in the Starbuck’s Iced Mocha Vs. Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha Latte war. They are too similar for me to make that decision.

Taste

Ok, I saved taste for last in Starbuck’s Iced Mocha Vs. Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha Latte. I did this because of course taste is of course a very personal issue when it comes to iced coffee. I have to give the battle of taste in Starbuck’s Iced Mocha Vs. Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha Latte to Dunkin Donuts.

I made this decision for two very important reasons. The first reason is of course the taste of the espresso. Starbucks espresso has a burned taste, which I personally do find appealing and addictive, like many people.

In the case of the iced mocha though, the less burned tasting espresso from Dunkin Donuts simply works better on the old taste buds. Something about a nice cool drink just does not mix well with that well known burned taste at Starbucks.

Finally, the iced Mocha Latte from Dunkin Donuts also wins because the staff at Dunkin Donuts leaves the chocolate syrup as a big glob on the bottom of the cup! Yum! You can stir this if you want, but why bother. You get lovely little globs of chocolate as you drink the iced mocha and it sweetens it perfectly.

In Starbuck’s defense I am sure they would leave their iced mocha unstirred if you asked!

Consistency

Ok, I hate to add this category on in Starbuck’s Iced Mocha Vs. Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha Latte, but I do have a point to make. Dunkin Donuts is completely inconsistent with making their iced mocha latte. I often have to tell the individual behind the encounter how to make it. This never happens at Starbucks!

So, if you are not a patient person, you may just hit your local Starbucks, at least you will know what you are getting.

Hands down for me the winner is the Dunkin Donuts Iced Mocha Latte, but be sure to be a little patient when ordering and make you received what you order before you leave!
