Summer BBQ Recipes: My Texas Brisket

Summer is the time of the year for fun in the sun and the art of barbecuing. A dark smell fills the air and forces you to immediately go to the backyard and bask in the smell that is BBQ. I have Texas and BBQ through my veins. I am sharing with you a brisket recipe that rivals all brisket recipes: Mine!

For the perfect summer BBQ I’ll start with the top course. I’m sure you’re familiar with brisket. The brisket should be cooked for at least 8 hours, but it was well spent. To make my version of mouth-watering brisket, the first thing I need to do is buy it. Wimpy won’t buy one. Make sure it’s more protein than fat. A good brisket is usually around 10 pounds.

When you get your brisket home, go ahead and start prepping to cook your brisket. You want to leave the meat trimmed. rub brisket with dry BBQ rub. I recommend Texas Brothers BBQ Dry Rub if you can get it. Make sure the brisket is fat side down so the sauce distributes properly. Now your brisket is ready for the smoker. If you don’t have a smoker, you can use your BBQ grill for one. Make sure to smoke the brisket at 350 degrees for 2 hours with a good accent wood chips like dark or apple wood.

When it’s 2 hours, take the brisket out of the smoker. Now you are baking the crust in the oven. Place the brisket in a Turkey or deep fried turkey pan and pour your favorite beer over the brisket. Don’t spill the beer! This is alcohol abuse. Here, I usually lightly coat my arm with Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning but a few salt will do just fine. I know it’s bad for you, but you don’t eat brisket every day. Indulge yourself.

It would be great if your pan has a lid. If not, cover the pot snugly with aluminum foil. Place the brisket in the oven at about 275 to 300 degrees and cook for 7 or 8 hours. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature once in a while. The internal temperature should remain at about 200 degrees for at least 2 hours.

Now that your brisket is cooking, you have 8 hours to kill. This is the time where you can make your potato-salad”>salad, BBQ beans and corn. Once your timer goes off in the oven , take out the brisket and prepare the picnic table for the feast. e-info.vn/tag/sweet-tea”>sweet tea and enjoy!
