Thick fog for tens of kilometers on National Route 1A

Einfo – Thick fog appeared on National Route 1A (in Ha Tinh area) stretching for tens of kilometers, causing difficulties for moving vehicles.

Around 8:30 PM on July 16, vehicles traveling from South to North on National Route 1A, upon reaching the areas of Ky Giang and Ky Tien (Ky Anh), encountered thick fog, completely obscuring their vision.

Dense fog began appearing on National Route 1A in the areas of Ky Giang and Ky Tien (Ky Anh). Vehicles entering this area were all very surprised by the drastic change between locations.

Especially when passing through Ky Tien, vehicles like motorcycles, bicycles, and cars with poor headlights did not dare to move.

Even vehicles with good fog lights had to move at a speed of 3-5km/h. The dense fog limited drivers’ visibility to around 5 meters.

After passing through Ky Tien and Ky Phong, the fog phenomenon lessened. However, about 4 kilometers later, upon reaching Cam Trung (Cam Xuyen district), the thick fog reappeared. Vehicles were again forced to move at a snail’s pace.

This weather phenomenon stretched for tens of kilometers along National Route 1A from the end of Ky Anh district through Cam Xuyen district, Ha Tinh city, and Thach Ha district.

Mr. Nguyen Van Luong, Director of the North Central Meteorological and Hydrological Station, stated that this weather phenomenon is called “luanlu fog.”

This weather phenomenon typically occurs before cold air fronts.

According to many local residents, this weather phenomenon is quite unusual and they were not forewarned.

The Ha Tinh city bypass toll station was enveloped in fog.

Mr. Luong also mentioned that for this weather phenomenon, vehicles entering the foggy area must reduce their speed to ensure safety due to very limited visibility.

“This is a normal phenomenon, so we do not include it in the weather forecast on the station’s website,” Mr. Luong explained.
