Surf’s Up

“Surf’s Up” stars the voices of Shia LaBeouf, Jeff Bridges, Zooey Deschanel, Jon Heder, Diedrich Bader and James Woods. This poorly constructed animated film also contains a cameo appearance from surfer Kelly Slater.

Cody (Shia LaBeouf) is a penguin from Shiverpool, Antarctica, who claims to be the best. In fact, Cody is nothing more than a dead beat when he meets Tank (Diedrich Bader) in “Big Z Memorial Surf”. Off” on Pen Gu island. Ever since he was young, Cody idolized Big-Z (Jeff Bridges), a surf legend who died years ago. From that day forward, Pen Gu Island was remembered in honor of the “Big Z Surf Off”. Cody’s only dream is to win the competition and prove that he is the best surfer alive.

There are many things I disliked about the film. One way he walked the aptenodytes. Instead of wadling, aptenodytes walked like humans. Another thing the movie does is introduce viewers to characters they could care less about. For the most part these characters are to be exasperated. The movie is hardly ever funny except for a few built in chuckles. That is many from the front.

Just because animated films is aimed at a younger audience, viewers feel obligated to like it. This is highly regarded as an animated film such as this one. It follows a documentary style that will probably make kids, it’s primary audience, lose interest in the movie. The whole movie experience was disgusting and frankly disappointing.

Overall, I don’t see how anyone can be interested in a movie that has so many jokes that fall flat. he is never dazzled or amused by the animation. The story was simple but predictable. The whole documentary feels like an animated movie that doesn’t work, especially if the movie doesn’t have character or charm. In discovering “Surf’s Up” it destroys almost every aspect of the film I can think of.
