Tonight I went to a local restaurant for my birthday dinner. We’ve been there before but after today I wanted to write a review because not only did I have a wonderful experience today but they are consistently well-rounded and provide excellent food, service and hospitality any time that I have been to one of their restaurants.
I visited the Texas Roadhouse in Killeen, Texas for my dinner tonight. We were promptly greeted at the door by a friendly hostess and seated immediately. Our seater this time was actually our server, a friendly girl named Elizabeth. She welcomed us and asked us if we had been to Texas Roadhouse before and proceeded to tell us about the free rolls (which are absolutely delicious, by the way) and she then took our drink order.
She was back with our drinks in a prompt manner and they were just how we ordered and then she offered us an appetizer. We asked for more time and she was kind a patient about it. We didn’t feel we were being rushed but when we needed her, she was right nearby. We ordered the Cactus Blossom as an appetizer which is similar to the “Bloomin’ Onion” you may have heard of from Outback Steakhouse.
Then we ordered our main meals with salads as side items and asked for our salads first. Our appetizer came in about 5 minutes and was hot and fresh and very good. Elizabeth had already provided us with utensils, napkins and appetizer plates when we first sat down. Our salads came later and were exactly as we ordered (I have a tendency to special order many menu items.) The quality of the salad was great. The vegetables were all fresh and ripe as they should be and everything had a great look and taste.
Next came our meals and even on a busy Saturday evening we didn’t have to wait very long for those. I ordered the single pork chop with a side of mashed potatoes, loaded like a baked potato. Everything was fresh and hot and the food was arranged nicely on my plate. There was no juice stains or spills from the pork chop on my plate and everything looked perfectly in place as you would expect from a pro chef. The grill lines were perfect in the chop and it was cooked perfectly- not too little and not overdone. The pork chops from Texas Roadhouse are like an inch thick and boneless. They contain no fat and they are not think and weak looking like pork chops from other restaurants (when you can even find a restaurant that serves chops).
When our food arrived, the server that delivered it asked us if everything looked okay, if we needed anything else and also offered us sauces. Shortly after, Elizabeth was back to check on us as well and everything was still wonderful. She brought us refills before we ran completely out, she removed dirty or empty plates right away and when the meal was over, she also offered us desert, to go boxes and invited us to return. She was prompt with brining the check (but didn’t push it on us before we were finished eating) and she was prompt to return with it after running my credit card. She also cleared final plates away when she took the payment to run the card so I wasn’t sitting there staring at my old food.
The prices are great for the high quality of food you get. Appetizers run $2.99 and $8.49 (for the sampler platter) and a single chop meal with two sides is $7.99. Steaks range from $8.99 to $16.99 and they have ribs, combos, country dinners and more. In fact, I think $16.99 is the most expensive that anything is on their menu. In addition to the great food and the wonderful service, they also have a great bar with many drinks including many different flavored margaritas and all the basic drinks you can think of. The atmosphere is friendly and comfortable and the restaurant, including the bathrooms was clean. Overall, it was a wonderful experience just like every time I go to this restaurant but this time was even better because Elizabeth gave us wonderful service.
