The All – Miami Hurricanes College Football Alumni Team

The Miami Hurricanes have fallen on hard times recently but now seem to be on the upswing after a great class on National Signing Day under new head coach Randy Shannon.

Miami, or “Da U” as it is affectionately called by former players, has some of the best overall NFL talent in the league today. Check out the alumni teams here:

Michigan Wolverines Alumni Team, LSU Tigers Alumni Team, and Texas Longhorns Alumni Team
… and then read on to find out how the Miami team stacks up:

QB- Vinny Testaverde, Ken Dorsey-

By far the lowest spot on the team, the old Vinny Testaverde would be a better option than the noodle-armed Ken Dorsey (although both have weak arms at this point). Testaverde can manage the offense pretty well without turnovers, however, leaving the game in the hands of this squad’s great defense.

RB- Edgerrin James, Clinton Portis, Frank Gore.

James, Portis and Gore are all explosive backs with great vision and balance who are among the best in the league. James is stuck behind a bad o-line with the Arizona Cardinals, but he is still an excellent NFL talent. Goal is a big threat every time he touches the ball. It’s a monster of gore that gets from within 20 points easily and tough.

WR- Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Roscoe Parrish

The top two are big and big, fast and physical. They are the most feared receivers in the game who can hit from 50+ yards at any time. Roscoe Parrish is a good slot fit because he is small and quick although he is a better special teams player.

TE- Kellen Winslow Jr., Jeremy Shockey, Greg Olsen-

All 3 are very athletic and excellent receivers from the tight end position, although they are less-than-great blockers. But they block decent enough to keep the other team guessing whether the run or the pass is called.

OL- Rashad Butler, Bryant McKinney, Eric Winston, Chris Myers, Brett Romberg-

This group is a bit weak compared to the rest of the top student teams, but the presence of McKninnie makes it decent because he is one of the best pass blockers in I play It is a deep issue.

DL- Warren Sapp, Calais Campbell, Vince Wilfork, Jerome McDougle-

Sapp has to come out of retirement to help this unit and Campbell is set to be an NFL rookie, but he joins for so much depth. Wilfork is big enough to be a nose tackle in the 3-4 defense that this team will likely play.

LB- Jon Beason, Ray Lewis, Jonathan Vilma, D.J. Williams-

This unit features a lot of speed and Lewis is one of the best linebackers in the game despite losing a step in terms of his overall speed. Vilma and Williams are solid but bring a lot of speed to the table to make the defense aggressive.

DB- Philip Buchanon, Brandon Merriweather, Antrel Rolle, Ed Reed-

Beautiful all around the unit that would be beautiful with useful words leaving out great stories. Rolle is physical enough to play receiver while Buchanon brings a ton of speed. Ed Reed can cover many mistakes in his backfield while Merriweather is a versatile defensive back for the New England Patriots.

Overall:

This team has a lot of players but is a little weak on the line behind the QB which hurts a lot. If enough extra players were given for higher goals, they could win around 7-9 games depending on how good their coach is.
