Local residents in Myrtle Beach, S.C., are moving their heads in the area as they see vacationers flock to chain restaurants and row food joints.

And our sushi and sashimi? I would put a few of our sushi chefs against any Japanese chef.

This gem began its private life, then became a boarding house. Fresh seafood has been served there since 1910, making it the oldest restaurant on the Grand Strand. The building has been lovingly restored, and the dining room overlooks lush lawns, live oaks and bays.

The place inside the old bank Southern hospitality and hospitality gentility comes out. Be sure to check out the former bank vault that is now a wine cellar.
