Curly hair looks gorgeous effortlessly, but at the right length. The best length for curly or wavy hair depends on what kind of locks you have. Professional stylist Andre Walker has devised a lock classification system that is useful for determining the best length. You might even see yourself in one of these famous men’s hairstyles.
We’ll skip the Type 1s, as gals with straight hair are the driving force. Let the writer start with:
Type 2: Wavy
Type II are loose wave curls. Although some people don’t consider them curls at all, waves are just great curls and they need a straight cut to fit, not fight. Christina Hendricks, Scarlett Johansson, and Kate Winslet have Type 2 hair. (So do I, though it is not my fancy.)
Many Type 2S favor long hair. To lend himself to the waves; he pulls the wave of his hair into a long, smooth bay. If you are Type 3, avoid hair lengths that touch your shoulders. Curly hair that broad shoulders visually reduces your neck. Omit Rosanna Rosannadanna’s blunt cut too, unless you want a pyramid of hair.
Type 4: Super-Curly
Type 4 is hair so tightly curled that the helices are the diameter of a brush or less. It typically goes up, not just down. Macy Gray, India.Arie, and Jill Scott look gorgeous in their Type 4 hair. Kelis is known for straightening her hair, but her natural Type 4 curls look great too.
If you love hair, look max; Iris looks sensational with big curls. So it’s a super-short cut, especially if you have a long neck. In fact, Type 4s can get away with almost as much length as long as it is well suited to your hair volume.
If you’re a Type 4b, medium volume could look all over the place. Leave this too-tame, look back in the 70s.
