With beautifully painted, carved wood-paneled paintings hanging under glass and truly delightful, original artwork on every wall (my favorite is a painting of lilies, framed by a woman’s face) – Real Hacienda’s delicious entrees and friendly staff run a close second. They have some of the best burritos anywhere with a great selection of appetizers. This restaurant has a spacious area and a lively atmosphere for a wonderful Mex dining experience.
Last but not least there are three, same owner restaurants and two fast food (believe it or not!) restaurants of growing fame regional El Toro, with locations at 1104 N. Cunningham in Urbana and 1802 Neil St. in Champaign, and El Torero at 2312 W. Springfield in Champaign, offers top-notch Mexican fare and daily lunch and dinner specials for a tight budget. The regional chain, chain, La Bamba, is the biggest surprise here, but it makes the list for tasty burritos and tacos as well. advantage Sparing them no time, La Bamba, with two Champaign locations – 606 Sixth St. on campus and 1905 Glen Park Dr. on the west side – offers fast-style seating but is best known for its carry-on function.
