As some know, the actor Charlton Heston passed away on April 5, 2008 at the age of 84. As for his career, I’ve gone through 126 films and now present to you the 10th Charlton Heston film in order of appearance.
The Ten Commandments (1956
Heston describes the life of Moses straight from the Old Testament. His nemesis: Ramses, played by Yul Brynner, who is a classic cinematic antagonist. Throw in Edward G. Robinson as Dathan and Vincent Price for good measure. Doing the Bible has never gotten better than this.
Touch of Evil (1958
If you’re a movie buff like me, this should be on your must-see list (after “The Maltese Falcon” and “Sunset” Heston plays Ramon Miguel ‘Mike’ Vargas (yes, Mexican) who recently married Janet Leigh and is looking for a Mexican border. to kill his nemesis: Hank Quinlan (), the epitome of police corruption. I can’t praise this movie enough.
Ben Hur (1959
During this time, Charlton Judah Ben Hur, a wealthy Jewish leader, has been enslaved by his friend Roman Messala (Stephen Boyd). What follows are the trials and tribulations of regaining freedom and revenge. Oh yeah, and some impressive team.
El Cid (1961
Heston is the titular character of El Cid / Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, the Spanish hero who drove the Moors from Spain. Also stars Sophia Loren. How are you wrong?
Major Dundee (1965
Cinema had its fair share of megalomaniacs from Charles Foster Kane to Daniel Plainview. One of them was Major Amos Charles Dundee (Heston). This is the post-Civil War years and the Apaches are landing at Army bases in Texas. He then decided to go after them, leading a group of confederates (led by Richard Harris) to ignore protocol and go to Mexico. Heston is great in a role that is equivalent to the leader Ahab followed Moby Dick. //e-info.vn/tag/james-coburn”>James Coburn, Warren Oates, Ben Johnson, Brock. Peters, and Slim Pickens. Note, this was the first film of a major director Sam Peckinpah.
Planet of the Bees (1968
The Hest is George Taylor, one of three astronauts who crash land on a planet where apes rule and humans chase. If you’ve never watched the original, do it yourself. While pop culture has ended today and every line has become an American vernacular, there is something about sitting alone and watching this on your own. While Heston returned to business a few minutes later, he did so for a paycheck. This is the movie version, unless someone makes a version closer to the book (where the monkeys had technology, like helicopters).
Omega Man (1971
In the second incarnation of Richard Matheson’s “Already Legend”, Heston takes the turn of the former Vincent Price, except this time against the changes by in which they met and named themselves “The Family” led by Paul Koslo. The most notable thing about this movie (despite the amount of time on ‘The Simpsons’, or the new ‘I Am Legend’ ripped from it) is the scene where Heston leaves the streets of L.A. he lets down, stops, snatches. his machine gun, and at the change begins to fire. Order
York and Detective Robert Thorn. When he is connected to the murder of foylent Green, Spina investigates and discovers the deadly secret behind the new food. . Also stars Brock Peters and Edward G. Robinson. Go ahead. Tell them, tell everyone.
Airport 1975 (1974
I guess they’ll go to a later release date… Besides Heston, there’s Alan Murdock, the man who took control of the 747 after a small plane collided with it, returning the flight without a pilot. I don’t know how to land that plane! Also stars Gloria Swanson, Karen Black, Linda Blair, and Dana Andrews (not related to me).
Earthquake (1974
It’s still 1974 and Heston gets another disaster movie shot: “Earthquake”. In it he plays the engineer Stuart Graff, estranged from his wife Remigio (Ava Gardner) and has an affair with the widow of a co-worker (Genovefa Bujold). One of the eponymous disasters of the 70s, it also stars Richard Roundtree, Victoria Principal, and Walter Matthau.
Honorable mentions;
While Heston’s leading man status declined around much of the seventies/early eighties, the actor became a supporting actor in the Nineties. His bits are included;
Almost an Angel (1990
Hogan played God for a bit, but he went unbelieved.
WayneWriters of the World II (1993
When Wayne (Mike Myers) does his tribute to “The Graduate”, he substitutes Al Hansen (‘Mad Actor’) for Charlton Heston (‘Good Actor’).
True Lies (1994
Heston is Spence Trilby, who neglects the arrangement of Ah-nuld’s works. Oh yeah, and he wears an eye patch.
In the Mouth of Fury (1995
I got this one not so much because Heston was in it, but it’s my fave movie. Heston is the boss of a book company that is looking for its star author, Sutter Cane (Jurgen Prochnow). If a fan of horror / H.P. Philoponus, look.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy your Hest-Fest.
