‘The Book of Sith’ Reveals Secrets of the Dark Side of ‘Star Wars’

Lucasfilm and 47North Publishing are releasing one of the most elaborate “Star Wars” books I’ve ever seen. It’s coming out just in time for the release of “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace 3D” in February. “The Book of Sith: Secrets From the Dark Side” will thrill any fan of “Star Wars.” No collection will be complete without it.

This book is made up of the writings of several Sith lords who rose to power and planned to take over the galaxy. Many Sith and Jedis passed these writings on throughout the years. The evil Darth Sidious gathered together the remains of five important Sith texts and wrote his own decree to establish his galactic domination. All six of these documents and some assorted artifacts make up the “Book of Sith.”

What an interesting collection to have as a reference to the films and television show. “Secrets From the Dark Side” is an official book authorized by Lucasfilm to fill in the gaps and share Sith lore with “Star Wars” completists. I’ve always been more interested in the bad guys, so this is perfect for me. As long as there are no wackos out there who plan on “studying” it and really try to become a Sith lord. You know those people are out there.

The book is bound in red faux leather with debossing and heat stamping. The cover is textured and reads “Book of Sith” in black lettering with a framework around it. The book contains beautiful original artwork provided by well-known “Star Wars” artists like Paul Allan Ballard, Jeff Carlisle, Chris Reiff, Chris Trevas, Russell Walks, Terryl Whitlatch, and the illustrators of Aristia/Hive Studios.

There are five removable artifacts included within the pages of this ancient text. They include a note from Luke Skywalker, a scrap of a Sith burial shroud, a battle map from the Great Galactic War, a detailed diagram of Palpatine’s political strategies during the Clone Wars and his master plan, and a propaganda poster for the Galactic Empire. The “Book of Sith,” a Sith lightsaber crystal, and a Nightsister talisman are all packaged in a motorized blood-red and black Holocron case. It opens when you press a button and features lights and sounds.

“The Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side” is 160 pages long and hardcover. You can see a commercial for the collection on the official Star Wars website. It will retail for around $100.00 and is available for pre-order now. The book is being released on February 12, 2012.
