The creepy crawlies of the world; some harmless, some destructive. These nasty creatures are not located in foreign countries or remote rainforests. You will find them hiding in the dark corners of basements, attics, in your house, in your backyard. you don’t even know it was there.
One of the most destructive bugs in the world, responsible for more deaths than all wars combined, is the common mosquito. They are not deadly by poison; they got their name from the diseases they carry. Female mosquitoes feed on animals and humans, sometimes bringing disease with them to the host. It is estimated that more than 70 million people per year in Africa, South America, Central America, Mexico and much of Asia suffer from these pesky diseases little critters contract when millions die.
The next deadliest insect is as small as the head of a bee. It is a “boy”. This monster is responsible for a small world 3 seat with large movements and infestations resulting in plagues and millions of deaths. These insects have no eyes and no mouth to penetrate and suck. Fleas can jump up to seven inches high and 13 inches across, making them about 200 times their body size.
Now I will introduce you to a not so common insect. They were introduced as “The Most Deadliest Insect” However; the report given to them is rather evasive. They are considered predators, but they are more timid by nature. They were given this title because of the poisonous asps. These white yellow and black bugs are called the African assassin hypanis. They are predatory and have been known to lift their prey up to 12″. Although to humans, there have been no reported deaths just a close call with a zookeeper cleaning out a cage that contained these bugs.
The Giant Japanese or Asian Hornet is the one that scares me above all insects. It can grow up to 3″ in length. A hornet’s sting is very painful because it contains a pain chemical called Acetylcholine, and in a larger volume than other stimulus. The poison also contains a human tissue-dissolving enzyme. The scary thing is that the poison of other species attracts the victim. They are more of a threat to people.
The Tse Tse Fuge, the bearer of the sleeping sickness. It is responsible for killing 200 to 300 thousand people a year in Africa. The deadly fly spreads the disease by biting the victim and passes through their mouth parts.
It is a genus of Pogonomyrmex, a member of the harvester ant. It is said to have the most toxic venom of all insects. Honey honey 10,000 stings to match that ant. However, their distribution of this toxin is rather small and does not really pose any threat to humans or animals.
Well there you have it, the most destructive insects. Just for your information, some spiders, centipedes and ticks are also thought to be deadly, but these creatures do not bear the name of insect because they do not have a body divided into 3 and six legs. The class definition is an insect.
