One of the most popular stories in Chillicothe, Ohio in 2006 actually made national news. It all started on July 29, 2006.
This day was like many days in late July in southern Ohio. It was warm, very warm. In the afternoon, John Parsons, an inmate at his home in Ross County (Chillicothe), had escaped from the jail. It was a busy town. Many were amazed, and some were horrified.
John Parsons was not the usual type of criminal that you see in a small-town like Chillicothe, Ohio. John Parsons was in this prison awaiting trial for murder, the murder of his beloved police officer (Larry Cox). If convicted, John Parsons could face the death penalty.
The way John Parsons turned out, he was considered a genius and the work of a man with a clear imagination and a high level of intelligence. Pencils, newspapers, toilet paper and duct tape John Parsons escaped the ladder. He then hid this, made a ladder inside his cell, behind one of the bricks, scraping at the crown which held the brick in place, loosening the brick, and placing a rope behind the brick. Then to remove the additional rope. Using mint green toothpaste that matched the color of the painted brick, the brick was not moved. He seems to have been working on this rope and side for a long time before he escaped. The security guards didn’t notice anything lying on the side until the day John ran away. Soldiers, following the procedure, put them to work to see the food. But the work was not done in time for the guards to find the roped man or to devise John’s plans.
The day before John Parson escaped, John designed a bed of clothes and hid the rope. When the sports season broke out, John said he didn’t want to participate. Then when the captives were led outside to break , John stood in line unaware of the guards.
The recreational area is housed at the top of the Chillicothe prison. Fur- surrounded by a fence. The hedge is high. But it was not enough to stop John;
Waiting for his chance, John went out as a man, threw himself over the top of the fence and began to climb. He climbed over the fence, jumped from the building to the next building and came to the street.
Then to John’s short song of liberty. The man began to be hunted. But that’s a pain to find out for many months.
Reports reached him first in the area of McDonald’s Hill Road. For days, officers and volunteers roamed those woods looking for John Parsons. But they did not find it.
Two weeks later the last thing happened was that he was hiding in an old fisherman’s cottage in the area of the Three Locks Road. This began a slow process that would eventually lead to John’s capture.
July, August, September and finally October. The storm was turning. The local sheriff said this would hurt John. He was sure John still lived in those woods somewhere nearby.
When John wanted to die as an officer, the cause became a national anthem and even ranked in America’s Highest. Willing Arrest warrants for this man have also been issued.
Then John Parsons joined the likes of Osama Bin Laden and put him on the FBI’s 10 most wanted fugitives list. The prize for taking John Parsons is an incredible $125,000.
Finally, it was time for John Parsons to come out for me. On October 19, 2006, an abandoned cabin was found by two local men. They wondered if he could hide it from the fugitive. I contacted the police. The FBI took over the investigation and assisted the local police and sheriff’s station; they surrounded the cabin, where they found John Parsons asleep.
John Parsons didn’t miss a beat. He tells her that they took him. then he should be kept and the accused again. But at this time the trial was moved to Hamilton County, and John Parsons was in Chillicothe, in jail no longer. For the time being in the East County Jail.
The thing that looks bad for the Chillicothe Sheriff’s station is the fact that the empty ballots are located a little less. a few steps from the station itself. Many find this act humiliating.
Why did he stay in the city? Many say that because his mother is fighting cancer. Is Captain Cox killed or born? Many have debated this point in Chillicothe, Ohio. But a new news about this story was pulled on December 8, 2006. John Parsons went to court and pleaded guilty to all. persuaded It was a plea bargaining and the meaning was clear. John Parsons will spend the rest of his life in prison, with no possibility of conviction. He stops looking at death. From the news reports, the state seems to have many arguments against John Parsons. Is he really guilty? Certainly not. People often say that the guilty should not face the harshest sentence in this case, the death sentence. But it means that Officer Cox’s family can’t find some peace and Chillicothe can return to the quiet town it once was.
