The Goonies: Where Are They Now?

The massively popular Mikey and the rest of the “Goonies” followed in Richard Donner’s action-packed quest for the Goonies when it was released in 1985. Goonies has become a timeless genre without memorable characters.

Where does this group of new acts come up? 22 years later, here’s a peek at the ‘goonies’ today;

Sean Astin

Astin, the son of actor John Astin and Patty Duke, won the Young Artist Award for his enthusiastic portrayal; spirited Mikey Walsh. While Corey Feldman’s name is probably best known years after The Goonies was released, Astin also played many roles in his youth and teens and is more at the forefront today. He recently roasted Sam, the hobbit in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Astin has also had roles on 50 First Dates, Click and the television shows 24 and Las Vegas. It also tells of Meekrat Manor on Animal Planet.

Corey Feldman

Feldman, who played host to “Om,” flew to film fame in the 80s, often starring opposite Corey Haim. He has over 50 films to his credit, although today he focuses on his music (with his band The Truth Movement) and his theater career. He recently appeared on stage in Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragoedia, a 1987 comedy parody. There is also the voice of the animated in the animated character Super Toon Disney Super robot Money Team Hyperforce Go. About his personal life, he married and after three years was divorced by Vanessa Marcil, then from Hospital Generali. (Sacrifice by M.C. Hammer.) He has been married to Susie Sprague for five years and they have a son, Zen.

Jonathan Ke Quan (Richard “Data” Wang

Ke Quan expressed the inventive Goonie, who was famous for his, “what I said, boobie plot.” After The Goonies, he appeared opposite Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and Temple Adept He also appeared on the TV show Head of the Class, which ended in 1991. Since then he has not appeared on the screen. However, an experienced martial artist, he knows the film industry as an acting coordinator and worked on X-Men and One.

Jeff Cohen (Lawrence “Chunk” Cohen

Cohen played Chunk as lovable and imaginative. Today he will be celebrating the lawyer-partnership firm Global Talent Associates. He is also an independent film producer. In college, he played the role of Chunk by making the truffle mix on the sides of the football field. And since he’s a lawyer, as lawyers are, he now goes by Jeff B. Cohen.

Jos

Brolin played Mikey’s older brother and Andy’s love interest. Brolin continued in TV and film roles, his most successful being Vo Man. He appeared in two films known for the year 2007: American Disaster and Quentin Tarantini’s Tere House. On a personal note, Diane Lane is a married actress.

Kerri Green (Andy Carmichael);

The character of Green’s cheerleader in The Goonies took on the role of Luke again. Green hasn’t done any acting since the late 90s.

Martha Plimpton (Stef Steinbrenner

This model-turned-actress starred in several movies and television programs in the late 80s and 90s. Today she is more involved in scripted theater (The Steppenwolf Theater Group) and narrating animated movies and audio books. However, Earth does make appearances from time to time, having the most frequent roles in ER and guesting on 7th Cae and Law & Order: SVU.
