Most people who have made the transition from older Cathode Ray Tube TVs to HDTVs have used sharp picture clarity and vibrant colors in a way that many thought was impossible. HDTV has certainly turned out to be a treat for our eyes. Unfortunately, due to the limitations of HDTVs (‘tenuness’), the speakers installed in them are very narrow and small, and therefore usually produce a thin and tinny sound. TV viewers tend to use this lower volume … until we hear something better. Better yet, it’s a very reasonably priced MAXELL Maxsound Soundbar.
Home theater sound systems can be quite expensive. Not infrequently they would cost anywhere from $250 to $2500. In the “you-often-own-what-you-pay-for” world, the more expensive the sound system, the better sound reason you have to believe it. Often that test is true – but not always.
The MAXELL Soundbar, which sits comfortably under your TV (up to 55 pounds), has an increased volume level and a stick that adequately turns the HDTV on music listening system. Suddenly the cable channels that broadcast the music are actually there and finally for something useful!
The installation is as simple as 1) placing the TV on top or on a flat surface and close, if that is not possible, 2 mm to 3.5mm or 3.5mm to RCA plugs and 3) Connecting the power cord of the Soundbar. Sound includes its own sixth control but if installed correctly, this is a little redundant and will respond to volume (and mute) you have the usual remote control.
There are two combined 3.5mm ports, so the Soundbar can be connected to two devices. It has a built-in subwoofer (30 Watts) and two dynamic mono speakers. These compact speakers are extremely efficient and emit a fuller sound of music, shows and movies, such as the police And listen. A well-enhanced home HDTV experience for the price of dinner for two.
There is a second delay between the TV being on and the sound kicking in and the amplification is not a full size stereo home theater system. On the other hand, the difference is audibly appreciable and the easy work of $43 – $60 is currently available.
The soundbar can also be used with many small devices that provide room-filling sound from small electronic devices. As long as the device has a 3.5mm (standard) headphone port, it should work just fine. This includes iPads, iPhones and iPods. It is glossy black with a black speaker-cover cloth across the front surface. Yes, that’s great. The physical dimensions are 23 x 2 x 8.5 inches.
MAXELL has earned a good reputation for product reliability. I expect this soundbar to be the second of its technological products for the average home consumer.
