Have you ever visited a place you didn’t want to leave? You will feel this way at The Natural Science Center in Greensboro, NC. The museum is a great experience for all ages, even adults!
The museum is spread over two levels with a pendulum in the center of the lobby. There are stairs and an elevator for your convenience. On the top level is the Thessaraus-a gift shop with bright gifts and gadgets from all ages. You will find a variety of toys and activities throughout the museum available for purchase at the gift shop. The upper level also has a children’s corner, entrance to the zoo, indoor animals, restrooms, dinosaur exhibit, rock room, travel exhibit and other great exhibits. Lower house for all critters. From spiders and snakes to turtles and fish, you won’t want to see everything. On the lower level are classrooms where volunteers take the snakes out of their cages and display them publicly. The lower room also has restrooms and showers.
For rock lovers, the museum offers a room full of rocks and fossils. There are rocks of all kinds and sizes. You will be able to see everything from diamonds to amethysts. The museum also has a smaller black room with blacklights, and you can see glowing rocks.
The museum’s tourist exhibit changes periodically throughout the year. They previously had a monster truck exhibit, a show on giant bugs and other interesting topics. Approaching the museum is never the same experience twice!
Many species of snakes have made their homes in the science center. It is a place for all kinds of snakes. From large boa constrictors and pythons to king snakes, there is sure to be a snake you like! The museum has volunteers who are available to take snakes out of their cages for you to hold or touch. Hand sanitizer is also available. Through the place of snakes there is a dark place with aquariums. It is a very relaxing place with the sound of waterfalls and fish.
Upstairs are classrooms that hold various programs. The door times are listed as to what presentation he is going to give on a particular day.
The dinosaur room is always a favorite. It’s not everyday that you come face to face with a real life dinosaur. Crayons and paper are available to draw and stencil dinosaurs. Fossil bones, fish, skeletons and plant impressions are also available for viewing.
When you walk through the error, you will find many things from the past. Phonography, old dental offices and such are just a few of the many interesting antiques the museum has.
Children Love the story area that the museum has set up. Climbing structures allow children to let off steam! Their supermarket is a section with cash registers, food and shopping pretend cars. A house with pretend babies and other items is always a joke. How does it play in the water? There is a water story section where you can make different ways for boats to travel and see what type of current makes your boat faster or more slowly Concave and convex mirrors always keep young minds wondering why they look so different. A room is also reserved for younger children. Inside, younger kids will find books, puzzles, age-appropriate toys, puppets and other fun activities.
The museum just opened the outside of the zoo. It is estimated that many animals are available for viewing. Inside you will see little critters like lemurs. Outside, you can feed the animals, or visit the animals inside the barn.
A day at the museum is certainly a fun day. Family time passes are available to save money on subsequent visits.
