The Opal Restaurant: Denver Restaurant Review

Lets face it, not everyone likes sushi and if that is the case with some of your family and friends, then you can come to Opal confident that there will be something for everyone because they also have a contemporary American menu. There is a parking lot right behind Opal and it is free after 6PM. Opal is one of the Denver restaurants that has valet parking on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The style at Opal is relaxed and casual.

Their sushi menu has everything you would expect sushi to be. You can start off with appetizers like Edamame (steamed soy beans) for $4.00 or Sunomono which is cucumber salad with crab, shrimp and octopus for $7.00. The individual pieces range in price from $3.75 to $4.75. Opal also has Sashimi Combinations, namely 12 pieces of Assorted raw fish for $17.95, the Sashimi deluxe which has 18 pieces for $ 21.95 and the Love Boat for $ 38.00. There are many vegetarian choices and the kids love things like the Kappa maki (cucumber roll) for $3.75.

The Dinner menu at Opal is a cleaver mix of East meets West. For Appetizers, you can pick from choices like Miso Soup $3, Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura for $7 or Vegetable Fried Rice for $5. Entrees include Teriyaki Salmon for $15, Seared Chilean Sea Bass for $18, Filet Mignon for $22 or the Chow Mein, which can be vegetarian by leaving off the meat choice, for $15.

When you are not in the mood for a full meal, or it is late at night and you are going home after attending one of the great events that are constantly going on in Denver, Opal is one of the Denver restaurants to come to for Happy Hour, which at Opal is every day from 4:30-7:30 and 10:30-1:30AM. Opal is one of the Denver restaurants where Happy Hour means more than bargains on drinks. They also have 2 for 1 Sushi and 2 for 1 Hand Rolls in addition to the 2 for 1 Hot Sake, $2.50 22oz Kirin Bottles, $3.00 Imported Champagne, $4.00 Premium Martinis and $1.95 Corona (4:30-7:30 Only) It is a great way to relax after a hard day’s work or a great way to wind up the perfect date.

Notes on Opal. The free parking at Opal is a big plus as is the variety for vegetarians. Reservations are not necessary, but it never hurts to make one. If it is a spur of the moment decision, call ahead to check on the wait time. It is not usually long, but anything can happen. There is always room at the bar if you just want a quick bite and it is a pleasant place to wait while your table is made ready.
