That book publishing setback of Lynne Spears in which she doles out advice on how to parent may turn into a complete cancellation of this most contemptible idea. You know by now that 16 year old Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant and that the father is 18 year old Casey Aldridge. Well, hold the phone on that one because rumors are flying that Casey Aldridge has been paid off by that icon of motherhood, Lynne Spears, to act the role of Jamie Lynn’s baby’s daddy. According to Star magazine, not exactly a hotbed of journalistic integrity, true, but with a wickedly nice history of getting things like this right, the real father is a much older man who works on the set of Jamie Lynn Spears’ Nickelodeon TV show Zoey 101. The reason for the ruse are twofold; one explicit and the other implicit.
The explicit reason is that the alleged real father of Spears’ baby could face rape charges if he came forward, and being the tremendously maternal influence that she is, Lynne Spears would certainly not want her grandchild growing up with his/her father in the big house. The implicit reason is that Spears has that book deal on how to be a good parent of celebrity children and, well, a child impregnated by her boyfriend is one thing, but allowing your child to be taken advantage of and raped and then profit off that heinous act is quite another.
And what of Nickelodeon? If it is true that the real father of Jamie Lynn’s baby is an older man from the set of her show whom Spears regarded as a kind of father figure, well, what does that say about Nickelodeon? In case you don’t have children, over the past few years Nickelodeon has made the unfortunate choice to move away from pre-teen programming of cartoons about babies and talking sponges and target those kids who grew up on those cartoons by making live action shows featuring hip young actors. In other words, this same guy could potentially be attempting to seduce Julia Roberts’ young niece Emma Roberts, or the two young stars of iCarly, or any of the myriad of girls who have appeared as the romantic interest of Drake or Josh.
Memo to anyone who has a daughter working at Nickelodeon: NEVER LET HER OUT OF YOUR SIGHT. Be a better parent than Lynne Spears. Even if this rumor turns out not to be true, that is probably the best advice any parent will ever receive.
