Finding the right vehicle isn’t something as simple as picking an automaker out of a hat. Notice that you can only find one American car in the top five most reliable cars of 2010. Sadly for American automakers, this is even after millions of recalls made by Toyota and Honda. The good news about American made car companies is that Consumer Reports show that GM and Ford are gaining in Asia and other foreign automakers . The question is to catch them. For now the answer is no, but kudos to Ford for the top five. See the most reliable-cars 2010 had to offer.
1. Toyota’s Scion TC – The most reliable car of 2010 goes to Toyota’s Scion. The Proles TC has an MSRP in the low to mid $17,000 range. It offers a great combination of quality, safety and a bit of versatility with its 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The major con-com with the Scion TC is only 29 combined MPG. This is noticeably lower fuel economy compared to other cars in its class.
2. Porsche Boxster– Do you want realabilty, class and speed all in one vehicle? If so, then the Boxster might be the car for you. Porsche boasts that the Boxster goes from 0-60 MPH in 5.6 seconds and handles like a dream. A non-27 mile per gallon family vehicle isn’t too rough on the wallet, but be warned; the MSRP for the base model will set you back $47,6000.
3. Ford Fusion Hybrid – Looking for a reliable American made car? Amazing! We found one just for you. The Fusion Hybrid’s $28,100 price tag might sound a little expensive at first, but a look at the savings you’ll get on fuel might change your mind. How does 41-MPG city, 36-MPG highway, 39 MPG sound combined?
4. Toyota Yaris – I first heard about the Toyota Yaris in an episode of Smallville, as it was. Vehicle of choice by Chloe Sullivan. I saw the car pop up again and again in television shows and movies. Guess what? The reason is that they were used in all television shows and eventually flooded the streets. This Toyota Prius model has an impressive MSRP ranging from mid-$12K-mid-$13K. Yahoo Autos shows the Yaris getting 28-MPG in the city and 34-MPG on the highway.
5. Honda Acura RL– Honda couldn’t make the top five with its ‘Concordo’ or Civic, but it still found its way into the top five most reliable cars of 2010. There were only a few Honda models. which were considered for this position, but the Acura RL stood out as the best of the bunch. The Acura RL won’t come cheap. MSRP starts at $46,830 and will cost a little at the pump, which is only 18-MPG combined. So why is this such a nice vehicle? Because of this, they run big cars without any minor new car hiccups, and time has shown that they will last much longer than the average vehicle this way. It has a 3.7 L. VP 300HP engine and an interior fit for a king. This is a car, reliability meets luxury.
It’s even more ironic that Toyota and Honda combined for 60% of the top five most reliable vehicles of 2010, even with all their documented issues in 2010. Their records have helped other automakers gain and narrow the gap between the top five and the beaters. in the door, but decades of perseverance have helped push Toyota and Honda through their recent troubles. It will be interesting to see if in 2011, the top five will remain or take an even bigger hit.
