It’s amazing when you meet your prince charming at any age. Although it was emphasized during the wedding and not so much on the wedding day, what most girls dream about is the wedding day. Ask a young girl and she can probably tell you what the wedding colors will be, what the dress will look like and what the bridesmaids will be. Although this dream will change many times, many women will see their dream come true in their twenties or early thirties. However, for many other women, the prince charming will not come much later. When this happens, you can still have a fairy-tales wedding, but that is age appropriate. Here are some tips for a more elegant, sophisticated and mature wedding.
1. Choose the Right Venue – The place you want to have your wedding will set the tone for the whole day. For example, you don’t want to wear a formal gown if you’re getting married on the beach. I give you So first choose your location and go from there. Many older brides choose not to have a church wedding. Consider non-traditional locations such as the beach, a garden, a Victorian tea house, a village, a civic theater or a bed and breakfast.
2. Consider aDestination and/or Wedding Theme – Destination weddings are fantastic, but consider more non-traditional places like Mackinac Island in UP/Michigan, New Orleans, Niagara Falls or Alaska. If you and your fiancé enjoy golfing, you might want to consider a wedding centered around golf. Or if you enjoy horses, arrange a wedding in a village and have a western theme. If you decide on a wedding theme, be sure to be careful in your planning as a wedding theme can become tacky/overdone if not properly planned.
3. Time is Great – How about trying something unique? He would prefer a sunset wedding on the beach, or a southern garden ceremony. What about a midnight wedding cruise, or an early morning ceremony with a brunch reception? the possibilities are endless.
4. Make “fun” a big part of your designs – Don’t be so stuffy/traditional. wedding celebration Many older weddings will also have their children and/or stepchildren involved in the festivities, so incorporate them into family fun. Consider planning a family-friendly zoo reception, or a beach/pool reception. If the bride and groom have a hayride or sleigh rides in the fall/winter, a silent reception follows with a chance to stop and party. of desserts (and don’t forget the candied apples).
5. Wedding Invitations – Make invitations that reflect your personality and style. Consider a photo invitation or an invitation on DVD. If you are computer savvy, consider making your own invitations. This can be fun for the two of you, and save you a lot of money.
6. Wedding gowns – Remember that most standard wedding gowns are designed with a younger bride in mind . A more mature bride should probably stay away from the queen style/full gowns and veils. Instead, opt for a more elegant look like a silhouette gown with simpler details (remember less for an older bride) or even an elegant suit. Also, consider omitting the headpiece and go with simple hair ornaments or flowers instead of the hair. Think about stunning and vibrant colors such as wine, champagne, silver, gold or soft pastels instead of the traditional white.
7. Wedding gathering – The fewer the better when it comes to wedding parties. Unlike married twenty-somethings, you don’t feel obligated to include your sister, cousin, or girl next door. But it only includes those closest to you and the groom at the wedding. If you have children, consider them.
8. The Honeymoon – Some couples spend a lot of money on their wedding and then put on a stink, or even cancel the wedding all at once. Don’t do this. You and your spouse should be alone during this time (even if you take the kids with you, be sure to schedule some alone time). A fantastic wedding is a great start to the wedding.
