Lace curtains can add a touch of romance to any room and are a great way to let light into your room while still retaining some measure of privacy. Today, laces can be purchased in a huge variety of styles from very delicate laces with many holes to thicker laces that will provide you with more privacy when your lace curtains are closed. The good news is that you don’t need to be an expert seamstress to make window blinds for any window in your home. Here are the instructions on how to make your own ribbon sails.
The first thing you need to do is measure how big the window is that you want to make the skins. You need to measure from the outside edge of the rim around your windows to the opposite side to get the width. Decide on the length if you want your lace curtains to stop at the bottom of the window or if you want to make lace panels that fall all the way to the floor. Measure from the top of the frame in window-frame”>window-frame”> the measurement you would like the curtains to hang and write down that measurement at length.
To get your final measurements for the ribbon, you need to add a seam allowance and also add enough extra room to make a pocket for the curtain ribbon to slide into the rod. Add an extra 2″ to the pocket of the rod by placing it at the top of the curtain, and 4″ to the hem by placing it at the bottom of the curtain. That is the length of your final ribbon will be 6″ longer than you want for your finished curtain. For the width of each panel , divide the entire width of the window by 2, and add two inches to each side to allow for the edges, and of course the lace curtains to meet fully in the middle, without a frame.

As long as you are measuring and cutting your fabric correctly you still need to be in good shape, however, if needed, make some adjustments. for the width of your fringe make the necessary measurements, so that the curtains hang at the right length.
To make the bottom hem, take the fabric lying down, fold the bottom edge over 1/4″ and press, then fold 3 3//4″ again and press again. Sew the hem using your sewing machine. When they are done, hang your curtains and enjoy the work of your hands!
