Tips for Training a Hamster

If you think hamsters are boring, think again. Your hamster can also be trained, like a dog, to obey your commands and come when you call.

Since these are nocturnal concerns, don’t expect your pet to play during the day. Find a time when you either watch, such as in the morning or on late night. This is the ideal time to play with your hamster and try some exercises.

A young hamster is the easiest to train, so it’s a good idea to buy one around 6 weeks old. I don’t try to start training right away. Moving is traumatic for a hamster and especially if it is a mother and siblings for the first time . Your new pets should rest for a couple of days and get used to their new surroundings.

Start your training with confidence. This way you need to be very care with your hamster. It never falls off the table or out of your hands. For such a small animal should never be more than 8 inches, or only the ground, unless it is secured in a cage. Treat your pet with gentleness and respect and he will learn to trust you.

For bites, try wearing rubber gloves to handle the hamster. He will learn that biting has no effect and he will know that he cannot hurt you. You will have a better relationship with your pet after this!

To get your pet used to the treat, try putting some food in the cage and rest it next to your hand. Let the creature eat the bread by your hand every day, gradually approaching nearer and nearer, until you have food in your hand. Now you can begin to pet your hamster very gently, and in the hope that it will behave well and accept petting.

Make sure you treat your pet at least 2-4 times a day, each time will help them get used to you. Play games to have fun this time. You can hide food in a shirt pocket or in clothes, and your hamster will run around looking for everything. Let him flee from the terrible with a loud voice or cry.

To teach your pet to come when you call, you need to be consistent. Use the noun whenever you have something nice for it, such as food. Eventually he will learn that the name is good and will run, thinking he has food. You must be very consistent to forget this or that!

Having a pet hamster is a big responsibility, but it can be very rewarding as you train your new pet. Without training, when the animal finally gets scared and runs away from you. It might even bite! It is much better to teach the animal to trust you and come when you call, then you can really enjoy your life with pets?
