When I was a kid, the words “spider” and “snake” elicited the same reaction from me as “boogeyman” and “darkness.” When I was growing up, I really learned about these two creatures in the environment. Spiders keep bug populations in check, snakes eat moles, in addition to bugs. That made me feel their power, but still, I don’t like spiders and snakes, especially when they come into my house. And therefore they repel many homemade things.
Years ago when I first went to my house, I soon found out that it wasn’t just a tenant. I had a terrible problem with spiders coming into the house from the basement. When I was going down the stairs one day to investigate the problem, I noticed that there were holes in the walls of the staircase. Worse yet, the room had several cracks and gaps in the walls and around the door and windows. These openings were like signs of “Grey” insects, spiders and snakes. To prevent spiders and snakes from getting inside your home, seal the cracks, gaps and holes in your foundation. Don’t forget to check your upper levels house and holes that can crawl in creatures. A good quality stem can do the job quickly and efficiently.
To remove spiders and snakes, use a vacuum cleaner to remove spiders, webs and eggs. Next, the Osage Orange fruits come out on your base near the doors and windows. The Osage Orange, commonly known as the “Bad Hedge,” contains a chemical called “2,3,4,5-tetrahydroxystilbene.” This natural-insect-repellent”>natural chemical is effective in repelling spiders and insects. They support food without a source , any snakes living there will voluntarily leave your base.
If your infestation of spiders and snakes is severe, you can mix a homemade repellent that will speed up the process of getting rid of these pests. Simply mix five tablespoons dishwasher-detergent to one quart of water. Then mix in an eighth cup Neem Oil. Neem Oil is a natural insecticide that is widely available in health food stores. And finally add several drops of peppermint or bryonia oil to the solution. pour a spray bottle and use this on your base. You can use it outside, around the foundation of your house, to deter spiders, snakes and insects from entering.
You can also mix two pounds of cheap, odor-free, non-clumping litter with half a pound of fetticum arrow moths. Mix in a heavy bag or another sealable container and let sit for two days. Then spread the bedding/moth mixture lightly around the foundation of your house as a homemade spider and snake repellent.
Another home remedy for getting rid of spiders and snakes is to remove clutter, debris, boxes and containers from your basement floor, as well as your house! Spiders simply love items to hide in. This includes clothing, shoes, bags, etc. When I worked as a domestic engineer for a married couple, I ventured to do their laundry. They used to lay dirty clothes on the concrete floor. Unfortunately, it was common to pick up a laundry basket and find a snake buried inside!
It is also important to keep your mowed grass down to prevent snakes and spiders. Remove wood, piles of leaves and branches, weeds and trash from around your home.
