Genre Essays
There are many types of tests, but there are only two that you should know when writing the FCAT. The two types of essays are persuasive and expository. The difference between the two is that expository is used to explain something, while persuasive is used to persuade the reader to do or believe something. You need to know this because you’re usually taught to make an expository, but the chance of getting an expository is 50-50 persuasive.
Knowing the difference between prompt and prompt and expository essay is one thing that prompt, instead of persuasive, can say something like “to persuade _____” or “to persuade ___”, which are usually words included in a prompt that informs. if you write, persuade. An expository prompt might say something along the lines of “write to explain why ____”.
Word Choice and Dialogue
This part of the essay is important but not as important as the anecdotes or the background aids, but, it is very meaningful and still helps you raise your FCAT score. The word choice and the dialogue are very small, but, they help to get 3 to 4 or 4 to a 5. You raise the word choice. I personally believe it is more important between the two. Word choice can be as damaging as it can be helpful in an essay. It is useful that your essay flows more quickly, because the graders think highly of your writing, which I can give you at the end of the score. But, for the very reason that a bad word choice can lead to a rough and harsh essay. Graders makes your mistakes and re-reads them to test for greater understanding, which, believe me, makes at least one point you get. Dialogue is something that you can use once if you are comfortable with it. Dialogue and voice are the things that you can emphasize in your essay the most, depending on anecdotes and word choice, because it can make your graders see you as getting the focus or they can make it confusing.
Transitions
Well, then the list is over. Transitions are in the very top category of the most useful words close to essays that will gradually raise your score. Transitional words are words that help the flow of the essay by introducing a new point, concluding it, and providing a time or place in the paragraph. Transitions are indeed common everywhere in everyday language, but people never need to experience them.
