Indiana has been a dominant basketball state for many years. Whether it is something in the water or something else, the state has made a name for itself by breeding some of the best NBA players of all time. Here is a list of the top 10 NBA players that were born in the state of Indiana and went on to star in the NBA.
1. Larry Bird- Bird is one of the greatest players to ever play in the NBA. Bird is a member of the Hall of Fame and won multiple championships during his NBA career. Bird was born in West Baden and played professionally for 13 seasons from 1980-1992. Bird is famous for his rivalry with Magic Johnson during college and the NBA. Bird ended his career with great averages of 24.3 points, 10 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game.
2. George Mcginnis- Mcginnis had a great NBA career and finished it by averaging a double-double during his 11 NBA seasons from 1972-1982. Mcginnis was from Indianapolis and finished his career with averages of 20.2 points, 11 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.
3. Glenn Robinson- Robinson played 11 seasons in the NBA from 1995-2005. Robinson is from Gary Indiana and finished his outstanding career with averages of 20.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.
4. Clyde Lovellette- Lovellette played 11 seasons from 1954-1964. Lovellette nearly averaged a double-double with 17 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Lovellette is a native of Petersburg Indiana.

7. Louie Dampier- Dampier played 12 seasons in the NBA from 1968-1979. Dampier is from Indianapolis also and finished his career with averages of 15.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in the NBA.
8. Dick Barnett- Barnett played in the NBA from 1960-1974 and is also from Gary Indiana. Barnett was solid during his 15 seasons in the league and posted career averages of 15.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.
9. Tom Van Arsdale- Like his brother Dick, Tom was impressive in the NBA. Tom also played in the NBA from 1966-1977 and posted career averages of 15.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game out of Indianapolis.
10. Shawn Kemp- Kemp is from Elkhart and was a dominating power forward in the NBA. Kemp played 14 seasons in the NBA from 1990-2003. Kemp made the NBA Finals with the Seattle Supersonics and finished his career with averages of 14.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
