Top 10 Wedding Photography Blogs

Over the past few months I have nurtured my love of photography with a healthy dose of blog feeding. I hope that by immersing myself in the most beautiful wedding photography on the internet, I’ll learn a thing or two and develop my own sense of style and business one day. I’m actually going to list more than 10 blogs here, but 10 is a nice, round number that I value more than 12 (which is the number I actually signed up to visit on a daily basis and will share with you here).

The blogs I have chosen are mostly focused on photojournalistic style which is my favorite style of wedding photography. Photographymata updates pretty regularly which I love because I always have new photos to see. A pretty big bunch of the photographers in this group are from the same area and are good friends from what I can tell. I find it inspiring that even though they are “competitors”, they are also friends and all very talented artists. We hope that you and your bride-to-be alike will find these blogs useful. Enjoy!

First we have [b] or Becker from Orange County, California. When I first got into wedding photography, I would see people naming names everywhere, and I had no idea what they were talking about. After I found his blog, I finally understood what he was doing about the whole business. Not only does Becker have an amazing photography and sense of humor, he’s nice enough to share a plethora of tips for current and aspiring photographers with his [b]Schools. Yes, he is running two blogs and a photography course. But I find him inspired. He shares a ton of tips that I’ve never heard before from other photographers. Julie Roberts of East Tennessee is next up on my list. One of my favorite things about Julia is how positive and helpful she is. I saw the result of it and immediately fell in love with it. Since then I have been messaging her when I have questions about what gear to buy and ask her for advice and she always helps me. Her photos are full of life and I can always see her model’s true personality showing through. Check out his blog here: xanga.com/julierobertsphotography

Radix Photography is run by Nathan and Jensey in Orlando, Florida. Their photography is beautiful whether it’s a sisters wedding or a sisters wedding. One of my favorite things about this blog is sharing photos of things that are near and dear to them (like their adorable dog Huckleberry) do not always focus on business. Another thing I like about post editing is that they often use it for their vintage looking photos… Gorgeous! Check out their blog here: rootphotography.blogspot.com

Next up is the beautiful Jessica Claire who is also located in Orange County, California. Jessica is one of the first photographers to combine her website and blog into one big “site”. Its results are absolutely stunning and delicious. Through his site I found a set of Photoshop actions that I use on a regular basis (I’ll cover more about these actions with my next blog) and constant inspiration for innovative photography. Chenin Boutwell aka Boutwell Studio is another one of those lovely folks located in Los Angeles, California. The actual design of your blog is adorable and reminds me of Patchouli. His photography is beautiful and creative using sunspots, reflections and shadows to create artistic images. Not only is her photography stunning, she and her husband also do some of the most amazing Photoshop actions EVER called “Rad Actions”. I use these actions for almost all the photos I edited in Photoshop CS3. If you visit the entire Rad Activities site, you can download a free sample of these activities under the “Download a Sample” tab. Check out Chenin here: boutwellstudio.com/blog and see Totally Rad Actions here: totallyradactions.com

Next up is Ben Chrisman from San Francisco, California. He is one of the most famous wedding photographers in the world now. His pictures look more along the lines of art than what normal photographs could offer. I feel like he is that photographer who is going to give you photographic evidence and you won’t believe that your wedding photos are personal. Please see Ben’s work here at: benchrismanblog.com

Joseph Villa from Caesal-southern. I love how it transforms the ordinary with such ease. I didn’t see anyone wearing the dress in their wedding photos, and I didn’t even think it could look great, but when it did, it looked amazing. I love the photos that Holga Cameras has taken on her blog because I am intrigued by the creative nature of photography. Another thing I love about Jose is how he pairs images in his diptychs on his blog… The compositions are always unique and beautiful. Check out Jose Villa here: josevilla.bigfolioblog.com

Well, I know a lot of photographers on this list are from California, but I’m not going to leave out an amazing photographer because they live in the same country as many other great photographers! These are artists whose work I follow on a fairly regular basis and are listed here in no particular order. From their work and hope that one day I will follow in their footsteps. Hopefully you’ve found a new photographer or two from this list or maybe a photographer for your wedding!
