Top 20 Basketball Movies Ever; Greatest Sports Films

Of the major American sports, next to hockey, basketball feels neglected. We have countless football and baseball gems, but not many great movie-making achievements when it comes to basketball. Here is my personal list of the 20 greatest basketball movies ever made. Although some are not in the top 20 of any number, the lack of solid basketball allows him a spot in the number.

#20. Celtic Pride (1996
A silent comedy about two basketball players who take Boston Celtics basketball a little too seriously. If you’re a Damon Wayans fan, this should give you a few laughs.

#19. Space Jam (1996
Kids basketball is a solid mix of and something fun for the whole family, even older basketball fans.

A classic work by Leonardo DiCaprio in which he works with many of the things he finds with the basketball star.

#14. Coach Carter (2005
One of the many movies on this list based on events, Samuel L. Jackson plays a coach who takes care of the team and personal levels. /a> progress rather than success in the court.

There aren’t many good basketball movies to date, but Love & amp; Basketball is a great story about a couple dealing with stardom and life through college at USC.

#12. White Men They Can’t Jump (1992
Nothing screams early 1990s like white men don’t dance with Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes.

#11. Air Up There (1994
Kevin Bacon doesn’t seem like a good fit for basketball movie stars, but as a coach who is determined to restore hope from Africa, well fits, and makes this watch a good fan for all sports.

#10. on the shoulders of giants (2011
The last and probably the least popular movie on this list, this Kareem Abdul-Jabbar documentary about an unknown basketball team is known to watch!

#9. Ways of Glory (2006
A great movie about one of the most important games in college basketball and civil rights history, the 1966 Texas Western University vs. Kentucky Wildcats National Championship Game.

#8. The Discovery of Forrester (2000
Whether this movie is more about writing or basketball, Forrester finds it a great and uplifting movie about a young basketball player who is more talented than a writer.

#7. Rim above (1994
This movie is more about the problems that can happen in an inner city with a star athlete than basketball itself, but a great basketball player.

Whether you love Lebron James or hate him, it’s a great document on his AAU and high school in Posson, Ohio.

Although made for TV by HBO, this partially true movie starring Don Cheadle and James Earl Jones is worthy of the big screen and a place among the best basketball movies ever made.

#4. Blue Chips (1994
The issues in this film are directed at the unemployed who are still a big part of college basketball.

He’s a great basketball player, but I always thought he was a little overrated and overhyped.

One of the best sports documentaries ever made follows two Chicago high school prospects and their quest to make it to the NBA.

#1. Hoosiers (1986
A classic movie based on a true story, Hoosiers just can’t be beat. Gene Hackman and Dennis Hopper’s performance this movie is a must watch for any sports fan.
