Following are my top 25 country music songs. I have broken it down into three categories. The songs are listed in no particular order. My picks include lots of love songs, because country music revolves around love. These are all songs that I really like, some because they have a message and others because they are like me – a little off the wall.

Friends in Low Places – Garth Brooks – A great fun drinking song. He has such great songs I had to get him in here twice.
Marry for Money – Trace Adkins – A light hearted song about marrying for money the second time around.
Always on my Mind – Willie Nelson – A song about a man who realized too late that he didn’t spend enough time with the person he loved. I think a lot of us have know that feeling at one time or another.
Choices – George Jones – I’m not a true George Jones fan but I do like that song. He made some bad choices in life, but many of us have also.
Forever and Ever Amen – Randy Travis – A man declares his love will last forever.
He Didn’t Have to be – Brad Pasley – A tribute to a step dad.
Walk the Line – Johnny Cash – A man stays true to his wife, not easy to do all the time right guys.
Smoky Mountain Rain – Ronnie Milsap – The contractor we used a few years back actually did some work on Ronnie’s home in Gatlinburg. That’s Two Degrees of Separation.

Country Music Songs by Female Artists
Independence Day – Martina McBride – Her voice sends chills down my spine when she hits the high notes in this song about domestic violence.
The Greatest Man I Never Knew – Reba McEntire – The story of a father daughter relationship that many people can relate to.
I Hope you Dance – Lee Ann Womack – A mother’s wish for her daughter.
18 Wheels and a Dozen Roses – Kathy Mattea – The story of a trucker making his last run before retiring and heading home to the arms of his loving wife.
What Part of No Don’t You Understand – Lori Morgan. Lori tries to get the point across that when she says no she means it. I have since stolen that phrase and use it a lot.
Don’t it Make my Brown Eyes Blue – Crystal Gayle – She can’t get over the fact he found someone new. She sure had some long hair.
Crazy – Patsy Cline – an emotional love song by an amazing singer.
Country Music Songs by or Duos or Specials
Boot Scootin’ Boogie – Brooks and Dunn – This is a great toe tapping’ tune and it brings back memories of my introduction to Country Music. I could never remember their names and referred to them as Dunn and Bradstreet.
Why Don’t You Stay – Sugarland – This is about a mistress upset by having to share the man’s time and begs him to stay with her, until she realizes she is better off without him and begs him to stay with his wife.
Islands in the Stream – Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers – A fantastic duet by two of the greats.
It’s Five O’clock Somewhere – Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett – I always loved this song so when these two teamed up I knew it would be a favorite of mine.
