There are so many spectacular places to visit in the big cities in the United States that it is nice to have a starting point for visitors to the area and Baltimore is no exception. This list will show the places that you need to visit if you get the chance to come to this fair city whether for a day or a week or even if you live here full time, it is always nice to discover new places.
The Walters Art Museum is located on 600 North Charles Street in Baltimore and is the first of our “Must See” attractions. The Walters Museum has a bit of everything and something for everyone. Best of all the entire museum is free to the public and is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am till 5pm. Currently the exhibit at the museum is entitled “Puzzles of the Brain: An Artist Journey through Amnesia” this runs until December of 2011. If this does not sound like your cup of tea don’t worry there are more exhibits coming all the time not to mention the many works of art that you will find while exploring one of the areas surprising offerings.
The U.S.S. Constellation was commissioned in 1855 and is the last all-sail ship that was built by the United States Navy. You can find this beautiful ship moored in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor located at 301 East Pratt Street; admission is $5 dollars for children and $10 dollars for adults. Not only can you see and climb aboard this treasure but you will also notice that there are several other ships available in the general area for visitors to enjoy and admire. Visiting the ship is a great idea for a family adventure on a weekend.
Federal Hill Park located on Battery Avenue offers views of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and is a great place for the whole family to enjoy some time together and enjoy the views of the harbor and the surrounding areas. The park also offers a secure playing area for children with a fenced in playground with lots for little ones to do while offering peace of mind to parents. The park is also dog friendly so bring “Fido” along to enjoy the sights and sounds as well.
The Baltimore Museum of Art is located at 10 Art Museum Drive and is open Wednesday through Sundays from 11am to 5pm and best of all admission is free for all. The museum offers one of the largest collections of Andy Warhol’s works for you to enjoy. The museum offers many exhibits currently running is “Hand Held: Personal Arts from Africa” which runs until February of 2012, the museum also has several ongoing exhibits and for family fun join the museum for Free Family Sundays where the family is given a great tour of some of the masterful artwork and then are taken to the studio to create their own!
The National Aquarium in Baltimore is one of the more popular spots it to is located along Pratt Street on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Admission is about $20 dollars for children and $25 dollars for adults the hours of operation change during the season but they are open at least 10am to 4pm during the week and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays with extended hours of 10am to 8pm on Fridays. Tickets can be bought online and makes your trip much easier. There are so many exhibits and shows offered at the Aquarium that it is not possible to list them all as the Aquarium is home to around 16,000 different specimens it is a great adventure for the family or couples and a definite “Must See” for your trip to the area.
