You’ve probably landed on this article for one of two reasons. You either have a dehumidifier and the noise is driving you nuts or you want a dehumidifier and you want to prevent yourself from buying one that will drive you nuts. Whatever may be the case, just sit back, read this article and enjoy that little thing we call silence because that’s what you’ll be getting with these dehumidifiers.
Soleus Air CFM-40 E 40-Pint Dehumidifier with Humidistat:
Known to have a “whisper quiet” operation. It’s a lightweight unit that has built in wheels that will allow you to move it anywhere. This dehumidifier comes with a humidistat that will allow you to adjust temperatures and the humidity level. There is even a light on it that will tell you when the bucket is full. There should be no worry as it will automatically shut off to prevent the possible problem of overflowing. Like most dehumidifiers you can hook it up with a hose to a drain for continuous usage but that’s not required. And yes it does come with an auto defrost feature so it won’t have ice build up. The price is around $200 and you can pick up one of these online at Amazon.com or you can check your local Wal-Mart (Found one at mine).
NewAir AD-40A Dehumidifier:
This dehumidifier is a portable one that can remove about 40 pints of moisture each day. It comes with a pan that holds 5 liters and if needed can be hooked up to a drain. Like the one above it comes with a humidistat, has auto defrost, and automatically shuts off when water pan is full. Controls allow you to range the temperature between 41 and 95 degrees. For a compressor driven unit this is definitely one of the quieter room dehumidifiers you can buy. Only place I saw this at was on Air-conditioner-home.com and it was for $189.95.
DeLonghi 50 Pint Dehumidifier:
Definitely is not a portable one here and is not easy to move at 55 pounds. This unit removes 50 pints of moisture per day and will work great for big family rooms (around 1,000 square feet). For a bigger unit this is very quiet with only a slight buzz in the air. The humidistat does the norm (temp, humidity level, and full indicator light) but this dehumidifier does have the Energy Star feature that will allow you to save money and still run efficiently. The price on this will range from $240-$280 depending on where you get it. Allergybegone.com is the cheapest but if you can get it at Lowe’s or Home Depot I’d go there.
Danby Premiere 70-Pint Low Temperature Dehumidifier:
A top of the line dehumidifier that is perfect for large rooms and even basements (up to 1,400 feet). This unit will remove around 70 pints of moisture a day and comes with all the features you need. Its temperature setting will go as low as 41 degrees and of course the humidistat also has the feature of selecting the humidity level. Its not an Energy Star but does run very efficient and seems to be very quiet. Another feature is the Auto dry where it removes all the moisture to prevent the chance you could get mold. The display screen is LED and comes with a remote so you don’t always have to get up to adjust it. Price is a little high at $300 but you won’t be disappointed with this product. I saw them at Home Depot no too long ago but for a sure thing you can go online at Allergybuyersclubshopping.com.
Comfort-Aire 30 Pint Dehumidifier:
A very small dehumidifier that is quiet and idea for the person just looking to remove some moisture from a small room or a larger room that only needs minimal removal. Its only going to remove 30 pints at most in a day. There is no display screen on this item and the humidity level is set with a dial. The temperature is set that way too and is only able to go as low as 65 degrees. It is portable so it can be moved from room to room. As always it has a removable pan and can be hooked up to a drain for continual use. Has the automatic shut off feature and will even auto restart after a power outages. Like I said, this isn’t your top of the line dehumidifier but it gets the job done with minimal noise. Only place I have seen this at is Allergybuyersclubshopping.com and it was $250. (Quick add: A friend bought one of these for his office and loves it)
