Top Five Casinos in Minnesota

Besides the eight months that I lived in Las Vegas, I have lived in Minnesota my whole life. I do not get a huge opportunity to gamble a lot, but I guess that is good so I do not have to spend a lot of my money and waste it. I have seen most if not all the casinos in Minnesota and this is my top five picks for the best casinos in Minnesota.

1. Grand Casino Hinckley

This was the first casino I was introduced to when I turned 18 and was old enough to gamble in the state of Minnesota. Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota is also quite popular because it is close to the Twin Cities on the north side. In the summer seasons when a lot of people are going up north to their cabins it can get really busy. They have a huge floor and a large slot selection. I am not a bingo person but they do have a massive bingo room. I recommend signing up for their player’s card and getting all the rewards they have to offer.

2. Treasure Island

Treasure Island is only about 45 minutes from the Twin Cities but it well worth the drive. I love the selection of games at this casino. It also has a really nice non smoking section if you get bothered by all the smoke at the casinos. If you sign up for their free player’s card you can get a lot of nice promotions you can take advantage of. There is not a lot to see and do around the casino but if you do stay at the hotel you will be amazed. They have really nice rooms and a super cool pool with a waterfall. Best of all the rooms are really cheap.

3. Mystic Lake

Mystic Lake is by far one of the most popular casinos in Minnesota just because of the fact that it is so close to the Twin Cities. You can get to Mystic Lake Hotel and Casino in about 30 minutes from the Minneapolis area. It is a pretty big casino with a large slot selection. Eventhough it does have a large slot selection, it is still hard to get a slot on a Friday and Saturday night just because it does get so busy.

4. Jackpot Junction

I went to Jackpot Junction for the first time a couple of years ago and I knew from the moment I walked in that I was going to love it. It is a smaller casino but they have recently added on for more slot selection in the casino. The thing that I like most about this casino is that they have a really nice poker room. You can sit in the poker room and read the magazines about gaming, and they have some you can even take home. My husband and I love poker and reading the magazines so this is a lot of fun for us. It does take a couple of hours to get to from the Twin Cities but it is well worth it.

5. Grand Casino Mille Lacs

Also in the family of Grand Casino’s, Mille Lacs casino is a popular destination in Northern Minnesota. It is known for it’s loose slots and people have a lot of fun there. I know they are also know for the amount of penny slots they have. I am a thrifty gambler so this is a bonus for me because I can play longer and spend the same amount. If you are in northern Minnesota this is the place to go.

That rounds up my top five picks for the best casinos in Minnesota. I have lived here most of my life so I have gotten to experience I think all of the casinos. These are the main casinos that I do visit in my travels across Minnesota.
