Top Presidents’ Day Weekend Travel Destinations

Baltimore, Maryland, surprisingly topped the list of the 50 most popular destinations for Presidents Weekend (Feb. 17-19) in a survey of more than 30,000 hotel booking requests made on Priceline.com, an online travel service.

With the bone-chilling cold now sweeping across the East Coast, there’s little doubt why this port city would be so popular with travelers in mid-February. But maybe it’s about weekend getaway (advertised online for as low as $89/night) or the world famous. visitors hauling in soft shell crabs despite the expected Presidents weekend forecast of about 35 degrees Fahrenheit.

Not surprisingly, the weather included the full third of the rest of the President’s weekend list of the most domestic states. The only international cities were number 7 and London number 37 and 50.

Florida was the big winner with its coastal and inland destinations tourist towns receiving 16 out of 50 spots. New Orleans ranked high on the list, taking the number 8 and number -10 spots. New York managed 3 of the top 10 places. California, led by San Diego and Los Angeles, occupied 12 places in the list. Hawaii is one of the strongest shows on the priceline.com Top 50 list, taking 5 spots.
