Travel Review: Jamaica – Where to Stay, What to Do, What to Eat

After reading many reviews of different resorts, we were ready to choose between many kids activities for our 7& 8 yr old girl and we sacrifice our comfort book. Needless to say, everyone wanted what they wanted at Rose Hall Resort & Antipolis in Rose Hall, Jamaica.

For parents:

When we first got to the hotel lobby, we sat down and waited with drinks. The desk clerk handed over the cards, keys and bracelets (for all inclusive) to us. We didn’t have to stand in line so I thought this was just a nice touch.

We had to wait about 45 min to get our room ready, but it gave us time to explore and have something to eat while we waited.

We were escorted to our room by bellmen who carried our luggage, and the room was immaculate. We had pillow top mattresses in queen size beds, and the view was the best part. We reserved a mountain view, but were given a room that had an ocean view from the balcony, a full course view, and a partial view of the mountains. Absolutely gorgeous!

We always had hot water hot to bathe the kids and ourselves and we had no problems at all with any insects as in one. he attends to others. Warning: If you value your watch, it comes with mosquito nets for the rooms, I suggest you high tail above to the Rose Hall.

For kids:

Where shall I begin? On day one, try signing your kids up for the Kidz Club. It is free and will give parents first-time parents a free time to relax their child without stepping foot. Kidz Club begins at 9a, breaks for lunch at 12, and resumes from 1p-5p. They have a directory of activities that will happen each day and you can drop off your kids in specific activities that you like . My 8 yr old loved going to kids club daily but my 7 yr old like hanging with mom & Father, not every day.

There is also a bulletin board in the hall next to the activity center that shows the activities that are going on for that day. There were so many activities that it only took 3 months to complete them all;

Water slide & tubing
Bingo
Pillow
A family making kites
Jewelry
Movie night
A magic show
Beach parties
Competition & nations
Trivia
Board games
Ping pong
Boat trucks
The price of the boat is glass bottom
Kayaking
Parasailing
water aerobics
Live class training
and the catalog is submitted…

They were broadcasting some of the locals. You will find no one in the Rose Hall. This resort respects the privacy of its guests and we never try to disturb any locals wandering around. The employees were hung up on us and never expected a tip. Of course, if we offered one, they would take it, but they didn’t have that look of “expectation” on their faces, like in some of the other resorts I’ve reviewed. They literally walked around the poolside asking “can I get you something”. I absolutely loved what I was waiting for!

This also pleases me, that they meet by constant guarding. There was always someone wiping the glass, the doors, grabbing the pint, dusting, picking up the towels that were lying around, etc. Kudos to the staff!

Food:

You are going to try Jerk Chicken at a seafood restaurant. Outside, it is next to the ocean and has a covered section and an uncovered section. They put on the naughty sauce for the chicken & The pork is absolutely to die for.

They also have a small restaurant next to the water stone & a pond called Mangos. The section is pushed to the side that has the enclosure & you can sit at the table in the pool to drink while you are in the water.

No one got sick, and no one had any gastrointestinal problems with the food. You can either have a daily buffet for breakfast, lunch & have dinner or a bite to eat with some restaurants outside. There are also 2 restaurants that you should make reservations for and dress appropriately such as no shorts, tops, or flip flops.

Even though the food was good, I didn’t care for the burgers because they didn’t have the consistency or taste of the ground beef in the USA. chicken & The fish was awesome and I love the variety of choices. If you wanted to stir fry something, go to the operator’s station, if you wanted eggs cooked to your heart’s content, to the grill station. It is certain that everyone will eat at this resort, even picky eaters like my daughter.

We got the best of both worlds Rose Hall for the kids and for us too. It attracts this crowd and is worth every penny. We took the kids to Disney every summer but it’s back to Jamaica next year for us!
