With the rain pouring down, no sign of sunshine in sight, my daughter set out to do something fun and energetic. We headed to the nearby Tyngsboro Sports Center. Located on Progress Avenue in Tyngsboro, MA.
What they offer: According to the Tyngsboro Sports Center, they offer: “a new, climate controlled indoor sports facility that includes: two basketball courts, four volleyball courts, one 180’x80 granular turf field, two coin-operated baseball field machines, one coin-operated softball field machine, three baseball field machines, concession stand, arcade, pro-shop, birthday room and TOY showers
Because my daughter’s softball game was rained out, I intended to try the batting cages first. A softball cage costs $1.00 for 12 balls, and $20 for 1/2 hour with a non-coin operated machine. We went for the signed version, with bats and helmets ready in the cages. The batting cage areas were clean and well organized, and surprisingly not crowded for a Saturday afternoon. We spent $15.00 on the machine and spent a good hour hitting softballs. The machine definitely fixed the fastballs, and after a while we could cut out the hit so that no more balls would go without a hit. We both had worked up a pretty good sweat by the time we ran out of parties.
Of course, since my daughter was looking at the arcade, we had to stay there before we left! The official arcade games were there, with a nice air hockey table. The arcade games were all functional, and while the prizes could use some work (most of the machines with superbball prizes were released), it definitely met with my daughter’s approval. We played a couple of games and then turned around.
Passing the room party, a group of 4 or so year olds had a birthday, and to play on artificial turf. It made me think about my daughter’s winter birthday and how there is such a small opportunity for a sports party type at that time of the year. We will definitely be thinking about this site when party season rolls around. We took a flyer on birthday and birthday packages range from $150. $200 for ten kids, and includes pizza, soda, an hour on the indoor field, 45 minutes in the room, and signs for the arcade or batting cages.
Tyngboro Sports Center also hosts a multitude of sports camps, clinics, and leagues, including kids soccer, basketball, etc. -ball, and multisports fields, as well as adult basketball, flag football and soccer.
I am absolutely glad we found the Tyngsboro Sports Center. It’s a great place to get activity and fun on a day when the weather won’t cooperate!
